one per position (minus K & P)...not necessairly the BEST player we had, but considering the draft pick that was used, the best value/pick

I'll get it started

QB- Roger Staubach.... love Aikman...great player, awesome talent...maybe one of the best pure passers in NFL history...but he doesnt get the vote here, when you spend a 10th rd pick on a guy and he becomes a Hall of Famer, gets you to 4 super bowls and wins 2, Mr Staubach, you get the nod

RB- Herschel Walker... we've had some great ones...but the best pick in team history at RB was Herschel Walker...we used a 5th rd pick in 1985 on a guy who came in and played great football and became a dominant player...what he did as a player makes him worthy of consideration, but when you factor in the impact of the 1989 trade to Minnesota, this is a no brainer

RT- Erik Williams...got him in the 3rd rd of the 1991 draft...was a real sleeper and turned into THE most domiant OL in football from 1992-1994, before the accident

DT 1- Jethro Pugh...11th rd pick in 1965...was a great player for over a decade and helped anchor one of the leagues best defenses of that time

you egt the idea

Too much attempt at trying to think outside the box, be original on this one. The common sense & obvious answer is the correct one as well.

By the way - the first player the Cowboys ever took belongs on the list for DT.

I love that avatar!! :laugh2:

I kinda like the Troy Aikman pick.....our leader of 3 Super Bowl wins.

I was going to say Cliff Harris and Cornell Green, but they weren't even drafted... (Is that right on Green? For some reason I though we drafted him.)

And David, how could you put Big E over Rayfield Wright? Seventh round pick...

Cornell was undrafted out of Utah State. I think he was a basketball player. I know his nickname was Boards.

Waters and Harris came to the Cowboys in 1970. Waters was drafted 3a out of Clemson where he played QB. He is from North Augusta SC. Harris went undrafted out of Ouachita Baptist in 1970.

Leon Lett and Larry Allen. Lett because he was so good and drafted so late, and Allen because it was in the second round for the best guard ever to play.

WR
Drew Pearson. Undrafted

Great value for a player who garners HOF consideration.

CB
Everson Walls. Undrafted
Another great value for a player that didn't require a draft pick.

I agree with Staubach. To me he is the top Cowboy QB, but it really is a no brainer when you talk about value of the player vs. the cost it took to get him. Aikman was #1 overall vs. Staubach in the 10th round.
