Ran across this local obituary and though it was given the circumstances kinda funny.

Ronald William Super of Oklahoma City passed away at age 74 on September 21, 2022. We can only assume he died of disappointment, since he was a Dallas Cowboys fan after all. Ron was born in New Jersey and grew up in El Paso, TX, along with his two brothers. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1965 and completed two tours in Vietnam as a Radioman before being honorably discharged in 1971. Ron began his career with the Internal Revenue Service at this same time and retired after 30 years, which is almost as long as it’s been since the Cowboys have been to the Super Bowl.

Ron was very intelligent and enjoyed solving puzzles. He is also the same man who fully assembled his daughter’s crib in the living room of his house before realizing that the crib would not fit through the door of the nursery, so…there’s that.

He was a dog-lover, especially rescue animals, who very much loved his own three-Cherokee, Dakota, and Shadow. He loved to exercise and took up boxing at a young age, even boxing for the Navy. This was something he and his younger brother, Russell, bonded over. Ron persevered over the years despite injuring his back and having a double hip replacement. Exercise was still a part of his routine, even just before his passing.

Ron was preceded in death by his mother Joan ‘Bert’, his father William, and his brother Rick. He is survived by his wife Jeanette, his daughter Julie, his brother Russell and wife Rosemary, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral home was not keen on us holding a ‘roast’ and frowned when we inquired about an open bar, so there will be no services. Instead, we ask that you remember Ron by complaining about other drivers, visiting your local casino (but don’t blame him if you lose), thanking a Veteran and First Responder or donating to your local animal shelter. And lastly, remember, as Ron used to say, “You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose, but you can’t pick your friend’s nose.”
