Once in a while I come across something at a store that I know is the perfect gift for someone I know. It may not be expensive or something that anyone else would like, but the item is a perfect match for a friend or family member.

What is the best perfect gift that you've ever given?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a brother who regularly grills over charcoal. Yesterday I got him one of these (a "foukou" Cyprus grill). There is a motor that turns the kabob skewers. (You can also cook burgers or steaks, etc. in a basket that fits across the top of the grill). My brother doesn't know what a foukou is yet, but I know he's going to love it. It'll take a few months for it to reach him in the US, but it's a perfect present for him and it may be the best perfect gift that I have ever given.

Last Christmas our family gave my grandparents a 46' Samsung TV. I'm not sure if they really know how to use it though. They love to watch NBA Basketball and they entertain close to 50 people each Sunday at their house.

Jeez. At 46 feet they could call it a drive-in. ;)

My wife is really thorough about the accessories she wears with each outfit. I bought her a Gucci watch that has changeable bezels for the face plate of the watch. I think she has about 20 different colors. It is like she has a watch for every outfit.

I think fruit cakes are an awesome gift because they can be re-gifted for many years to come. :D

On a serious note, I have always been a practical gift giver, mainly because I can't stand being given something thats unusable, and having to act 'fake' like I really like it, and then putting it in a box only to throw it out when it safe.

I try to buy gifts that the recipient either has to use it right away, give it away or throw it out, or has to be used openly to my view. :laugh2:

If people can't or don't use it, then it's not a gift, it's a burden to their conscience when they trash it.

So you think socks are a good gift?

Socks fit within my guidelines as described above, but I have never given socks as a gift to a friend or family member. To a homeless person who desperately needed them... yes.

Bob, I officially give you permission to read between the lines. It will save you a lot of questions. :D

I couldn't give my Dad a car, but I did give him a new Cub Cadet to replace the antique WheelHorse with the rope pull start.

I have got to say that is one cool little gadget. Do they make them here in the States at all? Seems like there might be a market for that sort of thing if someone had the time and inclination to start a new company...

Just sayin'...

The best gift I've given my wife was a Tranquil Moments® Sleep Sound Therapy System from Brookstone. We use it every night and even take it with us on vacation. It wins on practicality over the set of ornaments I bought last year to commemorate our first Christmas as a complete family. She bawled over those.

Somebody must be importing them, I'd guess, but I don't know this to be true.

I didn't mention this earlier, but another thing that's going to appeal to my brother ... the electric motor that turns the spits has a hook-up for a car battery (and a long cord). You pop the hood and fire up the grill....
