Better Root for Mallett and Newton

I'm still not convinced teams are viewing Ryan Mallett as a Top 10 QB at this point. I'm hoping Mallett can couple a strong bowl game with a good combine/pro day and solidify his spot somewhere in the Top 10.

The same can be said for Cam Newton. He's a bit of a wildcard to me. Vince Young was drafted No. 10 overall a few years ago, and I happen to think Newton is a much more complete pro prospect than Young, so I could see Newton going at least that high. On the same hand, I could easily see his stock drop a bit into the late teens or twenties.

Bottomline, we need these guys' stock to shoot up so some elite prospects of need will get pushed down to us at No. 9.

Hos can write letters about how Locker won the game when none of his receivers ever got open. Peterson hates puppies.

I'm pretty sure Young was drafted third overall.

I'm trippin', you're right, I was thinking of Matt Leinart at No. 10.

One thing to remember is that typically QB's stock will rise come draft day.

There was a small stretch when it appeared that teams stopped doing this, but with Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan's success, I think teams will go back to placing more importance on QB's these days.

I'm impressed with Newton. He seems even faster than VY and with a better arm and throwing motion. Mallet I think is a surefire top 10 pick unless something goes awry. He's tall, but only 1" taller than Peyton Manning and I think he's a much better athlete than Peyton. He's actually quite mobile. I don't get the Jake Locker love. I've watched quite a bit of him. I think he had some poor coaching early on, but he's still a very inaccurate thrower of the ball and I don't like his throwing mechanics. He will probably be taken in the top 10 because he'll put in a really good workout.

I think Locker is a Round 2 prospect at best. He might sneak into bottom of the 1st round, but I don't think he'll sniff the Top 10 at all. His play never improved this season from last and that will hurt him.

Hopefully, we can count on the unexpected like Buffalo taking Donte' Whitner at No. 8 a few years ago.
