equals Murderer's Row!

Holy Cow is that a deep deep league! Gonna be fun to watch over this week though :)

They'll beat each other up and then all be bounced from the NCAAT and probably get one team in the final four.

I was going to go to MSG for the tourney today but had other **** come up.

My alma mater (Rutgers) got hosed in one of the most ridiculous refree decisions ever.

I was watching it live. Absolutely the worst non-call I've ever seen in the history of sports.

You say that like getting a team in the Final Four is a bad thing.

You are right about beating each other up. They let them play physical, .. but when they get in the NCAA tourney that works against them because they call it closer.

I love Big East basketball. I loved watching all of the games this past weekend, even though my Mountaineers did not play well and got beat in their first game.

You can't bring your 'B' game and survive in the Big East.

I don't think it's a bad thing. But some people believe that the Big East is such a superior conference that no one from that conference can lose to a foe from another conference. The league is very deep, but I don't particularly think that conference plays a superior "brand" of basketball. Just has a lot of good teams.

For all the fawning over the conference, it hasn't won a title since 2004.

Exactly. Last year the Big East provided us with a few upsets at the hands of mid-majors.

#3 Georgetown loses to #14 Ohio
#6 Notre Dame loses to #11 Old Dominion
#2 Villanova losses to #10 Saint Mary's
Syracuse lost to Butler and Pittsburgh lost to Xavier but I don't consider those to be upsets

The 8 teams that made the tournament won a total of 8 games and lost 6 games against worse seeds. They never beat a higher seed either. I think the strength of the league in 2009 (sending 5 teams to the sweet 16) has made the media think they are better than what they actually are. Plus there is always east coast bias coming out of ESPN.

A friend of mine had Gtown winning in one of his brackets. It didn't take long for him to throw that one away. :laugh2:

Who says that, whoever says that is stupid.

This is why I think it is the best basketball conference. You can rarely, if ever, take a night off and know you are still going to win.

If it was hands down the best basketball conference, they'd have more titles, and some more recent ones. These things are cyclical, and this is the Big East's hey day, but they don't have much to show for it. The ACC has still won the past two titles, and 3 of the last 6.

I didn't say it had the best team in the nation, I said it was the overall deepest conference.

I still think that.

As a fan it is probably the most exciting conference to watch because you don't have a Kansas, Duke or Kentucky that wins almost every game. Not knowing who is going to win the regular season title or tournament championship is better than the mundane wait for the real tournament business the other conferences get.
