For instance, Bills had one play over 20 yds.

Don't know the numbers, but the Texans ran the ball incredibly well, but kept getting Stroud smacked around to the tune of 8 sacks.

Which brings up yet another problem. In the playoffs, D's are just better. So, those 7-10 step drops for long developing pass plays work fine against JAX and the Giants. However, when you play a team w/ a playoff caliber D, they will smack your QB around as most playoff D's have a ferocious interior pass rush that a QB just cannot plan for.

And to carry if further, that's exactly the problem w/ our O. We pound the bad teams w/ those big plays, but get eaten up by playoff teams. Absolutely must have a ball control facet to your O.

I am trying to think of bombs away offenses that have won it all; and offhand I am coming up short.

Even the Rams in 99 gave the ball to Faulk a ton, and also had a top 10 D. Which, BTW, is a good example. The Rams downfield passing attack only worked if they had a great lockdown OL.

And even w/ that "light 'em up" passing attack, they beat the Bucs 11-6 that year in the playoffs, and only put up 23 vs the Titans in the super bowl. And it took a great D play to keep the Titans out of the end zone for the win at the end.

A lot of the games , were in cold weather and snow. KC and Buffalo are tough places to put up prolific offensive numbers in January.

The Rams in 99' were the greatest show on turf. As long as they played indoors or in decent weather, they couldn't be stopped.

Until they ran into Tampa, beat them 11-6. And only put up 23 vs the Titans in the super bowl. And it took a great D play in the closing seconds to win.

And they were stopped every other year except 99.

Which is why they got booted from St Louis, right?

I'd rather have.a great defense in the playoffs than a prolific offense any day. Rams were fun to watch, though.

What’s your definition of “bombs away offense”?
Well like the Packers had with Lynn Dickey for a couple of years
and Fouts a couple of years as well but then Coryell was not quite that

Even when Brady had Moss they did not win it all. Deep strike and all that will not win it all by itself
