Someone else mentioned it but a vast majority of the CZ armchair GMs need to broaden their horizons beyond in state personnel bias.

There's a reason certain schools and conferences have put more 1st rounders and picks in general in the NFL.

Football is actually played outside the state of Texas, lol.

From my perspective:

Zeke was a competitive beast. He consistently found the right hole to hit but where the wasn't one he'd run over guys and pick up the dirty yards. All game he'd take shots, and dish out punishment which took its toll on his opponents, he was imposing but also very good technically. Zeke back then had home run-hitting ability and was extremely well-rounded with good pass protection, impeccable body positioning, great footwork, and decent as a receiver. But what made him stand out was the violence in his game, he was a force on the field. I think we all remember Zeke in his first pre-season playing against Seattle (legion of boom days). Cam Chancellor tried to give Zeke his "welcome to the NFL" moment but it was the safety that seemed to get re-educated. It was clear as day watching him come out of college that he was gonna be special.

Bijan plays differently. I would say he's more like Saquon Barkley was coming out except he's a good athlete rather than a freak like Saquon. Similar to Saquon, to me, he seems far too willing to dance behind the LOS, and I get the feeling that will catch up with him in the NFL, don't get me wrong, the productivity speaks for itself, it is on par with Zeke and likely will translate to some degree in the NFL. I just think better athletes will punish that in the NFL, these guys are unlikely to whiff so easily. On any given play you'll see Bijan hesitate, stutter step, before jump-cutting and proceeding to stretch the field. So as a between-the-tackles runner in comparison to Zeke, he's almost the polar opposite stylistically. Because of that, I don't think he's as NFL-ready as a runner now, but Bijan's superpower is his catch radius, along with being one of the best route-running / pass-catching RBs I've seen come out of the draft. That aspect of his game is going to be a weapon day-1.

As a prospect, I think he's missing that something special that Zeke & Saquon had that pushed them into the top 10 which I thought, and still think was a mistake. But I would have taken Zeke and Saquon mid-1st round and I wouldn't do that with Bijan. He's a significant jump up on someone like Clyde Edwards-Hilaire who went the last pick in the 1st round (should have been a 2nd) but if the Eagles take him at pick 10, I'll be pretty happy, he's not worth that IMO. If we take him at 26 I wouldn't say I'm overjoyed, but I'm okay with it.

Zeke was the better prospect at this same juncture, people forget how good of a player he was. Robinson has a wider skillset, but Zeke was the better pure runner.
Zeke was termed “generational” by a number of draft gurus. Kyle Pitts was, too. I don’t know about the latter, but Zeke certainly looked that way for his first 3 years.

I think Dan said it really well.

Zeke wasn't quite the all-around athlete that Bijan is. He's always been pretty straight linish. But his claims to blue chip fame were an elite size/speed combo - same 40 time as Bijan at 10 lbs heavier - and buffed to a sheen levels of polish in his game. As a runner, he simply never took negative plays. And he's the best pass protecting college RB I've seen. It's a skill that pry 90% of rookie RBs struggle with, and Zeke wasn't just good at it, he was exceptional.

In short, Zeke looked like a really big, really fast 5 year NFL vet who was trapped in college and destroying people. When he came out for the draft, he was foolproof.

I also agree that Bijan comps to more like a deflated Saquon. They're both big backs with a small-back playstyle, creating yards with quickness and speed vs running defenders over. But Bijan's doing it at 215 lbs. Saquon was a blue chipper cause he could somehow do it at 230 lbs. I can't think of another RB at his size with his agility EVER. Maybe LaDanian Tomlinson is in that zip code.

If Bijan was 225 or 230 with his same tape, he'd be looked at in a Saquon or Tomlinson kind of light. And if he was 215 lbs but putting up tape that might as well be coaching film, he'd be seen as a blue chipper as well. But he is what he is - an athletic but not generationally athletic dude who's ripping up tackling-optional Big 12 defenses mostly on talent. That's cool, athleticism plays at RB, but we also saw Breece Hall do the same thing just last year.

If Bijan had explosive speed he'd probably be a no-doubt top 5 pick.
