As the old band Chicago once proclaimed, this was a blessing in disguise.
1) Looks like we have finally settled on Rico as just being the bell cow back. Looks like Deuce is done.
2) Could we now have a legit number 2/2AB WR? After being an absolute waste up until last night, could this be the game Tolbert needed to make him a legit player for us? Cooks going down is what allowed this. I havent watched the game a 2nd time, but Im guessing the Steelers were rolling coverage to Lamb all night that forced the issue to getting the ball to Tolbert. This can only be a good thing.
3) We lose another pass rusher and it really puts pressure on Golston to play lots of snaps.... and he delivered. This defense played hard. With so many injuries, people.... maybe some HUNGRY people were getting some playing time. Again, this can only be a positive thing as we get people back from injury.
Lastly, and a little bit off topic.....yesterday once again shows how crazy the NFL is. Should the greatest football mind to walk the sidelines (according to many in here) Mike Shanahan be fired> The all mighty niners have absolutely blown two big leads in the 4th quarter and sit at 2-3...... yes, TWO and THREE!!!
The Bills coach throws on three straight plays from the one yard line in a tied game with maybe 50 seconds left in the game. He needed to get a little out of his end zone, but more importantly he needed to make the Texans burn his time outs. i thought only the Cowboys have horrible clock management?
The Bengals..... a team with a real GM and a real owner that stays out of things is 1-4. 1-4 with probably a qb in the top 4 of the entire league.
The Dolphins, a team that had one of the best offenses in th eleague last year, are atrocious with Tua out. If only they had a real front office, they wouldnt have failed so miserably at preparing for a qb with an extensive history of missing games. Even an AVg GM would have been able to see his qb was gonna miss games and he would have addressed his back up qb.
Wonder boy Sean McVay has his team sitting at 1-4........ enough said.
The salary cap WORKS incredibly well. Very smart coaches make calls that fail miserably. Good front offices have huge holes in their rosters. Good teams hover around 500. This aint your pappy's NFL when yearly playoff appearances are ensured with an almst yearly trip to the NFC title game. Time arent a changing.. times have changed. Instead of being miserable daily about the team...... enjoy it. I didnt even come to the site yesterday, I just couldnt deal with it. Then what do we see today? Thread after thread of rainbows and chocolates.
Look at our upcoming schedule. Holy crap is it looking hard. No easy ones coming up. Could get rough. Get your antidepressants ready.
