This may have already been discussed on the board, but does anybody else find it funny that last offseason, before we knew what we had in Romo, people were talking about wanting to mortgage our future or tank the season so we could finally get a franchise QB in Brady Quinn?

Want something funnier than that. Heaven forbid if Romo tanks and Quinn turns out to be the real deal..........

No kidding. Quite the risk we're taking, but if it should happen, we're armed with 2 number 1's next year.

A probowler in the hand is better than an expensive wait for it QB we didn't take. Besides I would rather go with the one who wanted to be in Dallas. Cleveland Rocks is only in sit coms for guys with crew cuts.

Perennial probowler and I'll concede, but Romo looked rather average towards the end of the season, so I'm going to hold my breath before anointing him the next great Cowboys QB.

By passing on Bradie Quinn, Jerry Jones showed he likes what Romo brings to the table....

Not a compelling argument given our recent history with Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, and Drew Henson, but we shall see. I, for one, hope Romo is the real deal. I just think the jury is still out.

yup, and hopefully that will even make Romo play better - the kid likes a pad on his shoulder it seems:star:

Hey the kid probably was never called upon to drive a bus before. For his first active season he did about as well as I expected. Given his experience and a camps worth of starter snaps with the first team I think he will improve even in his sophomore campaign. His immediate coaches should also be a plus. Great Cowboy QBs have always taken a few years to season. Troy took his lumps, Roger took his lumps. If Romo ever gets a SB ring as a starter then you can talk about anointing. This year he is just a second year guy like that Eli kid in NY.

I will miss Bill though.

Owning Cleveland's 1st round pick next year (and our own) offsets all of that. And there is no guarantee that Quinn will have a good NFL career. We know Romo can play at this level. We just don't know what his ceiling is yet.

So so true.

Not for me... but for may.

I remember the likes of Mike Williams and Rodrique Wright being similarly praised across the board here to name a couple others...
