Brandon Jacobs explains hatred for Cowboys

Few athletes in all sports rile Dallas-are fans more than Brandon Jacobs. The Giants running back loves to loathe the Cowboys. And that will never change, he said Thursday:

``If I play for the Giants, or if I play for Buffalo, or if I play for anybody, my hatred for the Cowboys will remain the same because as a kid I just never liked the Cowboys. No one ever did anything to me. It's just that I took the team that a lot of people loved and that was the one I disliked.''

Even in the offseason, Jacobs was shoveling disrespect on the Cowboys, telling a national radio audience: ``I'm not a fan of Tony Romo. I don't think he's that good a passer, to be honest with you.'' Before the Sept. 20 game at Cowboys Stadium, Jacobs said, ``I hate the Cowboys with a bloody passion.''

``He hasn't stopped talking,'' Cowboys linebacker Bradie James said. ``I think when they played Arizona ... he'd say, `We've got the Cowboys Week 13 or Week 12.' That's all he does.''

Cowboys nose tackle Jay Ratliff, a teammate of Jacobs at Auburn, offered a surprisingly different assessment:

``He's actually a really nice guy. We both have on the field mentality where you're nasty a little bit. He talks a whole lot more than I do, but he's a good guy. He's still a good friend of mine.''

Jacobs has been a hot topic of converation. In the first five games, all victories, Jacobs averaged 20 carries. He's had only one game with 20 carries since, and New York is 1-5 in that span.

He's averaging 3.9 yards per carry with 683 yards and three touchdowns. In each of the previous two seasons, he averaged 5.0 yards while gaining more than 1,000 yards. He had 15 touchdowns last season.

``We have been good for a long time and that's what is so exasperating to everybody,'' Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said of the running game. ``I don't think it is any single thing. Regardless of what it is, it hasn't been as good, it hasn't been as consistent.''

I hope he keeps his promise and retires with his weak yards per carry.

he sure did say that didnt he. Think we need to save that document and remind him after the year is over?

Then, see how he tries to get his foot out of his big mouth.

What his promise again for retirement? I remember reading it, just not the details. If he ever averaged less than 4ypc?

What did he say about retiring?

As for that article, are 'Dallas area fans' really riled by this goof?
I think he's a blowhard and I love watching him get pushed around by Colombo, but I know no one is getting riled over here.

yes he said he would retire at the end of this year if he doesnt get over 4 yds per carry, best i remember.

Jacobs a sure thing
Comment October 3 New York Post "A lot of people are worried about Brandon Jacobs' lack of production this year. The Giants running back is not one of them. He's so sure of himself, he vowed to retire if he doesn't get better. "If I finish the season averaging [3.4 yards] a carry, I won't play next year. I'll be done," Jacobs said on 'The Brandon Tierney Show' yesterday. "That's how much I believe in my ability." Don't count on Jacobs walking away, but it should be reassuring to hear Jacobs has not lost any confidence. During last week's game in Tampa, Fox broadcasters Tony Siragusa and Daryl Johnston criticized Jacobs for not running harder through the hole. Jacobs has just 196 yards this year."

I hope not. I want to play him each and every year.

3 TDs on the year? I like our odds.
