I know Jerry is a stubborn fool but honestly, having lived through Garrett, I'd have assumed a bit more sense of urgency.

Yeah, the handful of anti-Dakers are just gonna blame him.

But the vast majority of fans and those in the media have rightfully pointed out the defense failed but so did the offense, especially in the first half. Because that's the truth. Dak was woeful in the first half. McCarthy was a boob. Those realities don't magically disappear because the defense really sucked. Again, its not an either/or situation here.

I just don't get it. He's literally going against everything he's said in the past. Like you said, he admitted he held onto Garrett too long. He also claimed that he eventually moved on from Garrett because he just wasn't the guy to get them beyond where they need to go.

McCarthy wins 13 games for 3 straight years but spits the bit in the postseason just like Garrett. What happened to needing to find that guy to get us beyond where we went with Garrett?

We should have seen this coming. We saw him play soft against Miami, and Detroit, and even Washington. That last drive by Detroit should have won the game for them. If Campbell doesn't get stupid and go for 2, they go into overtime and no doubt the drive the ball down the field again and score again. Where did this come from? This defense has been at its best when they press the receivers in man coverage and they rush the QB. The minute they play soft or zone, they give up easy 1st downs. Quinn chickens out. Take the risk. Trust your players. Play aggressive defense and make the other team make a play or make a mistake. Love was throwing off his back foot, lobbing ducks to receivers who were so wide open they could wait for the duck to land without a Cowboys defender anywhere near them. Of everyone on this team I think Quinn absolutely gave his team the least chance to be successful.

I really do hope he gets a job somewhere else because what we saw the last 6 weeks of the season was just no good enough to win anything. If the coach has no guts then the team won't either.

What is SO FRUSTRATING when the D gets exposed is that Quinn switched his defensive philosophy from the 1 that brought him fame because of that SB…it wasn’t just the D that lost that game. The irony is that the 49’ers, Jets, and Texans are running his OLD defense, with the 49’ers having the most success with it.
