Crystal clear Dan Quinn and his looney defensive decisions cost the game. Was he paid off or something???

Yet, you hear nothing but the Dak haters blaming Dak, McCarthy and everyone else. Freaking pathetic.
It wasn't just the defense though it's the main culprit. The offense was pathetic in the first half and didn't get going until GB relaxed and put backups in when the game was already decided. It was failure in all three phases.

Scoring 0 points by halftime will cost you the game vs anyone too. Both sides were absolutely putrid. There is no defending either side of the ball. Both sides of the ball did absolutely nothing right for basically the entire first half.

100%. Not sure why people are blaming one side over the other. Both sides were total no shows.

It’s a small thing, but I don’t understand how all the pass rush and stunts Quinn loves match up with his bend but don’t break philosophy. The very first drive showed everyone, Quinn included, that we could not sit there and let Aaron Glenn rush for 200 yards and exhaust our defense. So instead of playing 5 DLinemen or something big, he brings in more DBs and brings the safeties down. If you can’t stop the run with stunts or blitzes since we are too small and weak and untalented up the middle at DT and LB, don’t play a soft zone and let them do whatever they want.

Play press man coverage and blitz like crazy. Sometimes you blitz or stunt into the run and stop it. Other times, the pass pressure gets to the QB before the man coverage breaks down. Playing zone 10 yards off the ball with no safety help is just insane. It’s like playing prevent defense the whole game. Instead of giving up the occasional play, we gave up everything.

The bottom line issue is our defense was never designed and populated to stop the run, not even before LVE’s injury. They say you build a defense from inside out because you must stop the run. Our DT and LBs are the worst players on our defense and team in general. Is there one player up the middle who would start for even the bottom third of teams? Still, Quinn’s game plan allowed GB to score 6 TDs on their first 7 offensive possessions. We couldn’t even force a FG. It was too easy. On GBs one punt during that stretch, GB drove from their 24 to the Dallas 48 before a holding penalty. They pinned us inside our own 10 on the punt.

I would have fired Quinn in the lockerroom after that game.

We play man defense for like 90% of the season and the dude decides for the playoffs we are going to play almost exclusively zone.

Why???

I consider that a fireable offense and could explain why Quinn does not have any offers yet.

It was and that's why Kurt's analysis was spot on. The schemes we ran made no sense against such a standard defense. GB said plainly they were going to take away your first or second read. Two high safety all game. At which point did we attack that formation with our personnel? We didn't. They just mainly stayed home and keyed the pass because no run game was coming. If we forced them to defend the run, all of a sudden it opens up. That's the dang playoffs for God's sake.

Terrible defensive scheming.
Bad offensive scheming.

Coaching should know by now that making it a one dimensional game doesn't work. Teams will take away the first and second read and force Dak to beat their defense. He's shown time and again incapable of this. He'll choke. Knowing that, the coaches need to make them defend against the run and change up the routes. 8 years in and Dak is still holding on to the ball taking sacks instead of throwing it away when there's nothing there to throw to. Why is he still making rookie mistakes?

But it wasn't all on him. This was coaching that just didn't seem to want to be in the playoffs so didn't prepare. Quinn's choices were even worse because he went away from what was working through the whole season to something Love was stronger against. Brilliant. That's Garrett level genius there. "Let's play to the opponent's strengths! They'll never expect that!"

I like that idea but some of the Dak stuff is just fluff. Sacks are sacks when you try to make plays. Still needs to watch them. But Dak has been rolling all year without the run and made all-pro with his play. That means something. It's all about putting your players in the best position to win and I do not think at any time we were setup to do that on offense or defense. Not everyone is Mahomes but lesser players have won SBs. It's not even rocket science at this point but the basics of what a coach should do. Every single team that won this post season had one thing in common, had a run game.

It almost feels like Quinn threw the Game. And now what? If he doesn't get an offer we are stucked with him.

Will he be the head coach in waiting again?

That could get Phillips/Garrett ugly, specially if the team underperforms next season which is likely with the amount of free agents we have.

You shouldn't be taking sacks in the playoffs when throwing the ball away keeps you in field goal position. He made a very dumb decision that play as he frequently does in the playoffs. He tried to play hero ball and it cost them.

Your last sentence captures the entire game. In that game, in that situation, instead of being out in a better position to win the game we out him in one that automatically needs him to be superman. That is our failure at least in the offense. He isn't superman and should not have to be. Do you take a sack there? Ideally hell no but he was out there trying to make a play to get us going because surely the play callers weren't doing it.
