Oh, the weather outside was frightful but inside the performance was delightful.

All 32 teams in the National Football League were credentialed for North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz' pro day, but due to the weather the Bison passer worked out in front of representatives from just over half of the league's teams. Among the onlookers was Hue Jackson, head coach of the Cleveland Brown, along with his quarterbacks coach Pep Hamilton. Once Wentz had completed the scripted portion of his workout, Hamilton made a request for the quarterback to complete some unscripted drills throwing a wet football.

The Browns will be picking two spots ahead of the Cowboys in the upcoming draft, and they will most certainly take the top rated passer on their board, regardless of it being Carson Wentz, Jared Goff, or anyone else. Regardless the Dallas Cowboys had personnel on hand to insure that they were able to cash in on the due diligence being exercised by the Browns if the team decides that they want to select a passer with the fourth overall selection.

NFL Media Analyst and former Dallas front office man Gil Brandt provided coverage of Wentz' workout, and to say that he came away impressed is a bit of an understatement. At various times he referred to the session as the best pro day performance that he had ever witnessed, the best performance since Sam Bradford's effort in 2010, and he drew comparisons between Wentz and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco. His colleague, Daniel Jeremiah, graded the outing as "an A if not an A+".

During the 65 "play" scripted workout, Wentz opened with and impressive run on completed passes. Sure he was working out without pads and and had rehearsed the performance many times over the past week, but completing 44 in a row is still impressive. All told, the potential first quarterback taken in the draft went 63 for 65 with one drop and only one mis-fire. That was an overthrown ball. Once Pep Hamilton added the Browns wrinkle to the workout Wentz continued to impress, although he did throw the first pass into the dirt.

More and more it is beginning to look like Carson Wentz has solidified his claim as the top ranked quarterback in this year's draft. With Cleveland in dire need at the position, even after signing Robert Griffin, III, that is bad news for Cowboys fans pining to see a smooth transition from Tony Romo to Carson Wentz over the next few years. Courtesy of the Twitter-verse here are a few looks at what makes the small school prospect the likely second overall selection in the draft
