Jason Garret is target number one for the Cowboys fan base.
With a 2-3 record the Dallas Cowboys are technically only a half game out of first place in the storied NFC East.
This is about life in the NFL, though, and more specifically this is life with the Dallas Cowboys. If you’re not performing great the talk is louder and the spotlight is brighter. Dallas may have two wins to show for this season so far, but their offense has looked inept and broken beyond measure.
We have a tool within SB Nation called FanPulse that measures how fans feel about certain topics within the NFL. This week’s particular question involved where you place blame for what’s happening to the Cowboys this season. The options were Jason Garrett, Jerry Jones, and Dak Prescott.
The results aren’t exactly shocking, but the percentages certainly are interesting:
- 56% blame Jason Garrett
- 23% blame Jerry Jones
- 21% blame Dak Prescott
That’s 79% of blame that falls on the shoulders of decision-makers within the Cowboys and the remainder on the team’s quarterback. Many will note that offensive coordinator Scott Linehan is deserving of responsibility as well, but to a degree the blame for him would also fall on Jason Garrett as his superior.
It should be noted that this question comes the week after Jason Garrett chose to punt on 4th and 1 from the Texans 42-yard line in overtime. Perhaps people are living more in the moment than usual, but perhaps that’s fair because that’s a decision that rightfully rests on the head coach’s shoulders.
Do you think these results are fair? Do you disagree? We’re only at Week 6.
