Someone is ready to go.

Reports started circulating on Monday that Orlando Scandrick asked to be released from the Dallas Cowboys.

We discussed how this made sense given that with Chidobe Awuzie, Jourdan Lewis, and new-look cornerback Byron Jones all in the fold, there seemingly is no room for Orlando. The Cowboys also have Anthony Brown, who will try to bounce back from a poor 2017.

The Cowboys publicly said that they would release him if they couldn’t trade him (the logic of doing this is a different subject), but over 24 hours later nothing has changed. Orlando Scandrick seems, at the very least, annoyed by that.

The reality of this situation is that the Cowboys control Orlando Scandrick by contract. It’s unfortunate, but it’s professional sports. It would be the courteous thing for the Cowboys to just cut him loose, and maybe he’s trying to put pressure on them to do so.

Part of why Orlando likely wants to be “freed” is to be able to negotiate a deal while the iron is still hot. Teams are acquiring cornerbacks and the market could dry up for him quickly.

For now, just like Orlando Scandrick, we wait.

Just let the man go, he doesn’t want to be here, and nobody’s trading for him.

Boo hoo. He’s not missing out on any top dollar. If anyone wanted him bad enough to over pay him they could just trade for his current contract. Otherwise he’ll get what he’s worth in due time

Sure, just have him give back the money he'd cost the team against the cap so everything's a wash and he's free to go.

He's just trying to change the narrative of the situation. Like he's fed up with us. The situation is as of now there are younger guys here...just like when he and Jenkins came in and we had Anthony Henry. Its the NFL. Scandrick probably knows that better than anyone. Props on the career Scandrick.....don't let these guys see you sweat. Bow out gracefully and go to your next team.

It would also have been nice if he had averaged even 2 picks a season while he was here

I didn't even care about him not getting picks. He played his role well. His body is breaking down. Its a sad state to be in but you don't have much use for a guy who keeps constantly missing time.

I am mildly surprised Uncle Jerry did not turn him loose in time to enjoy the festivities.

The roster needs 5 CBs. We have 5 with Scandrick. When we get a quality player to replace him, the Cowboys can let him go.

Yes, that is smart.

Especially since that is exactly what genius Stephen Jones said they were going to do.

The water has already been poisoned. Even if they decided to play hard ball, this whole situation has been botched to the point where keeping him out of spite accomplishes nothing.

These players know how the Joneses operate. He will get his wish.

About the only leverage Dallas has any more is to what degree they want to make them wait.

Bene or Marquez white or a draft pick can be the 5th CB.

Orlando makes too much money to be a 5th CB.
