Someone is ready to go.
Reports started circulating on Monday that Orlando Scandrick asked to be released from the Dallas Cowboys.
We discussed how this made sense given that with Chidobe Awuzie, Jourdan Lewis, and new-look cornerback Byron Jones all in the fold, there seemingly is no room for Orlando. The Cowboys also have Anthony Brown, who will try to bounce back from a poor 2017.
The Cowboys publicly said that they would release him if they couldn’t trade him (the logic of doing this is a different subject), but over 24 hours later nothing has changed. Orlando Scandrick seems, at the very least, annoyed by that.

The reality of this situation is that the Cowboys control Orlando Scandrick by contract. It’s unfortunate, but it’s professional sports. It would be the courteous thing for the Cowboys to just cut him loose, and maybe he’s trying to put pressure on them to do so.
Part of why Orlando likely wants to be “freed” is to be able to negotiate a deal while the iron is still hot. Teams are acquiring cornerbacks and the market could dry up for him quickly.
For now, just like Orlando Scandrick, we wait.
