Sorting the Bills

Though it looks like a colossal mismatch on paper, Monday night’s game between Buffalo (1-3) and the Dallas Cowboys (4-0) might not be horrible from a Bills’ fantasy standpoint.

The Bills have won their last five MNF contests at The Ralph, although those games spanned their Super Bowl seasons (1989-94).

Dallas quarterback Tony Romo is the highest-scoring fantasy player in the NFL at the quarter pole, but the Cowboys’ offense has struggled in the past against the Bills, even when they’ve been riding high.

In the last four regular season meetings, Dallas has averaged just 7.5 points per game compared to its average of 19.7 in those seasons (1984, ’93, ’96 and 2004). The most notable Dallas flop was in ’84, when the 0-11 Bills got 206 yards rushing from Greg Bell and shocked the Cowboys, 14-3. Dallas finished 9-7 that year.

Trent Edwards, who will make his second start at QB, has some good precedents on his side — both against the Cowboys and on Monday nights. In 1996, Todd Collins pinch hit for injured Jim Kelly and led the Bills past Dallas, 10-6.

In a MNF game in ’89, Frank Reich led two fourth-quarter TD drives in a 23-20 win over the visiting Rams.

Nice. Cite a 23 year old flop to legitimize this present team's hopes.
I love how the offense struggled to win those two Super Bowls.

If the Bills can pull Reich out of moth balls, they may have a slight chance of beating us Monday Night.

Nah. :)

It's just like I thought. In order to survive in Buffalo, they're all on meds. Their reasoning to support the possibility of a win is nonsense. We need to go up to Buffalo and punch them in the mouth and beat them 42-7. This is a stats game and we need to work hard to drive up our scoring average to new heights. Go Cowboys.

Hmmm. Only one game mentioned took place in the last decade. Now that is some fine reporting.
