Still the only athlete to win an Olympic gold medal and a SB ring.
And it’s been exactly 60 years ago that Bullet Bob wowed the Olympics in Tokyo. Rest in power Bullet.

Bob Hayes was my first sports hero as a kid. He’s one one of the few athletes from the past that could play in the NFL today. He was Tyreek Hill 60 years ago only he could also return kicks and punts. His 71 TDs and nearly 20 yds per reception stats are just as remarkable today. Hayes literally changed the game of football with his speed, forcing NFL defenses to employ the modern zone defense.

The 4x100 was perhaps the greatest race he ever ran, what’s more impressive is he was a football guy first and a track guy second, watching him play was incredible he just ran by people, Roger Staubach said you couldn’t overthrow him. Like Howley it was a travesty that it took so long for him to get elected to the HOF.

He still holds sprinting records that not even Usain Bolt can beat (relay leg fastest time), but the NFL decided that Darrell Green was somehow "faster" in a rankings list a few years back. Talk about anti-Cowboys bias. Hayes is the fastest human being ever clocked.
