Kevin Burnett is a classic Wade Phillips 3-4 Inside LB. Fast and can run and make plays. He was popping people last night....Parcells was more 260 pound head on sloth LB's... I can see Ayodele on trading block.

Burnett needs to start now.

Didn't see the game but I've been waiting for him to step up. Ayodele disappointed me much of last season even though he statistically led the team in tackles I wanted more big plays, we'll see.

I don't want to sell Bradie or Ayodele short, because I think they both are solid players, especially Ayodele, but Burnett is simply a playmaker. Obviously, it's easier to look good playing against backups, but that guy is just a freak athlete.

To me, he's like a Lavar Arrington without being a nutjob. I can honestly say I think he would be the starting Weakside Backer for half the teams in the NFL, or maybe more.

He'll see the field in our nickel D a ton this season, which is still a whole lot of snaps, so we'll see.

How did Ayodele dissapoint you last season?

He was the most consistent LB we had last year besides Ware..

Nothing big came from him in my opinion, he wasn't dreadful but for the kind of money he fetched i expected more tackles in the backfield, some forced turnovers and tipped balls as well as some sacks.

He really didnt make that much for a FA LB. He got 5/15 which isnt all that much. Adalius Thomas got more than that contract guaranteed.

He isnt that catalytic of a player though which i do agree with. If the current trends continue i could actually see Carp or Burnett overtake him.

Ayodele isn't a "Sloth" as you say Parcells prefers. Ayodele can run.

Ayodele got an average contract and played very well -- second on the team in tackles, tied for the lead in tackles for loss (with Ware) and had a sack, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries (tied Watkins for second on the team in takeaways). And he did that despite playing in a defense in which he rarely blitzed, and despite being taken out in nickel situations.

Ayodele had a nice pick against the bucs and the cards I believe. He was pretty solid. It's nice to have this kind of depth. Burnette was flying all over the place Saturday.

Nice problem to have 8 linebackers. who would of thunk it 4 years ago.

Let's see if Burnett can stay healthy for three consecutive weeks before we go and start trading productive linebackers. He's not exactly shown himself to be Mr Durability on either the professional and college level, and he's currently playing 3-4 inside linebacker at safety size.

not to mention he was the jack linebacker so his job was basically to take a olinemen out of the play

Kevin Burnett is the real deal folks, this guy isn't the biggest of the LB's but he's like Vilma of the Jets, delivers a hell of POP!

Burnett hits and can run. He is going to earn more playing time soon. Ayodele is an average older veteran. I think Burnett brings more playmaking and energy to our defense. Ayodele is a serviceable LB that really kinda blends into the backdrop.

Good depth issue to have!

burnett and carp will get their time...braidie and akin will sit when that happens...bottom line...you need all of these lb's in this game...the more the merrier...

While I agree that Burnett should be on the field more, it doesn't do any good to put him out there as a starter - Ayodele makes tons of tackles year after year b/c he is solid against the run. That's what you want in your starting ILB. Burnett needs to play on passing downs to be most effective.

Ayodele is 27. Burnett is 24. Not that big of a difference in age.

And the biggest thing that you forget is that Ayodele is a productive veteran in actual defensive sets. And Burnett, well if he's healthy this year, he just might be able to produce on more than special teams.
