BREAKING NEWS: UNC official would not confirm or deny whether Butch Davis has been fired today.

The school is VERY upset with all of the scandel--as they are generally know for running a very clean overall sports program.

Also, the school has been top 3-6 academically for public universities for about 30 straight years, so academic fraud is especially embarrassing.

It's too bad, b/c the football program was starting to get decent again.

About time, can't wait until the NCAA finally drops the hammer. And even if they don't, it effectively kills UNC football because they'll have to make a safe academically minded hire.

Considering the likelihood of a bowl ban, loss of scholarships, probation, the necessity to repair their reputation after the academic scandal, and paying Butch to fire him I'm guessing it will be a relative unknown. And for this season it will just have to be an interim coach at this stage of the game.

Wouldn't matter. If Dean wanted it, they would give it to him.

Early names being thrown out are Gus Malzahn (OC Auburn), Troy Calhoun (HC Air Force), Paul Petrino (OC Illinois).

I'll say Pat Fitzgerald (HC Navy). I think that he's exactly the guy that they would be interested in. JMO
