I also do not think CB is the best way to go in RD 1...but like I said, if we do go CB, Harris is the guy I like the most..
me and you seem to be on the exact same page..Tyron Smith, as of now..is the guy I want the most..I think he is the guy we need the most..
If we decide not to go OL in rd 1..then the next guy I want...as of now, is Cam Jordan
I just think Tyron Smith is exactly the type of player this old offensive line needs. If he just played RT, he has the skills to dominate in pass protection and the run game. The last time I checked Rayfield Wright and Erik Williams were two of Dallas' best offensive tackles of all time, and they were RTs. However, Smith has LT written all over him. Teams move their ends all over the field, and the Giants and Eagles are stacked with pass rushers. They keep taking them in the first round, and it's time to counter their defensive moves, imo.
It couldn't be set up better for the Cowboys. A potential franchise LT, in the mold of D'Brickashaw Ferguson, with RT experience and 20 years old... He is going to be sitting on a tee. We shall see.
Again, I think Garrett and Houck are Smith's only chance, because I think defense is going to get most of the support. This franchise (under Jerry Jones recently) loves picking on defense in the first round and has never drafted an OT in round one and didn't draft a WR (for many years) until last year.
I was reading Vela, and Bunting stated on his site that he would rate Smith behind Okung or second in last year's offensive tackle class.
I would love to see Felix Jones on the edge and in space and on the second level behind Smith. Smith could do the pulling that Davis can't do consistently. If you watch Jones' Arkansas highlights, you will see him explode right with his blockers on the second level. Plus, Romo gets more time to go down field. The WRs benefit, and Witten gets to go out on the route instead of blocking for Colombo. The second level run blocking is poor on this offensive line. The run blocking over all is low mediocre to poor.
Yep. We agree. Smith gives the guy in your signature the pass protection Romo needs to get him the football. Taking Smith is just like investing in your offensive skill players, the number one strength of the football team.
One good thing Smith has going for him (against Jordan) is that he blocked him good, especially in the running game.
