Thats the bend but don't break type of defense that we were used to seeing many years ago. I remember we gave a lot of easy passes because we played a zone and about 10 yards away from the receivers. Why do we waste so much money in getting the best corners and DBs and tell them to play zone? I don't get it.

It isn't all that bad of the strategy if the offense can put up 30 ppg, if you think about it.

What games have some of you been watching last year? Don't you read up on Phillips Defense? Man, some posts get down right nonsensical.

What I've remember in most Cowboy games is we got shredded by no name QBs because we play zone. Its okay to play it sometimes. But please, please don't play it every single time. Especially when the strength of our corners is playing man.

last year Reeves started almost every game at corner would you really have liked to see him in man to man? :lmao2:

Dave Campo doesn't decide what defense we play.

It's pre-season, we're more concerned with evaluating players than showing how much man coverage we may employ this year.

With all the corner issues in '07, we were forced to play a lot more zone and we upgraded the position to give the defense more flexibility this season. Wade Phillips likes zone coverage and we'll use plenty of it, but we have the personnel to man up whenever desired and we'll see that as well.

The object of training camp these days is to get your guys through it without getting injured, so tackling is verboten on many teams. Defenders need to tackle to prepare for the regular season and playing lots of off coverage during pre-season is one way you can give them opportunities.

I think the best man to man corners we have are Newman, Henry, Pacman, Mike Jenkins and O. Scandrick the back ups will struggle with more man to man.

Can even be better/successful when you actually generate a pass rush too ;)

He's a man corner, go back and watch him in Cleveland.

He can play man but he is average.

He is better in the zone because of how he can break on the ball and anticipate routes.

Campo is just the secondary coach. Not the D coordinator.

When did this team suddenly become Zone Central?...With such modest pass rush, shouldn't they be manning up more?
