Can anyone explain Rule 51 to me, ? could we use it on Larry Allen?

I cant remember where someone put the rule 51 on a board. I gathered something that you can use it on one player in June or this year. Something like you take that players cap, 1/2 of it would go on this years cap and 1/2 next years cap. Can someone explain that to me, and if so, could we possibly use it on Larry Allen this year? joe

You are confusing 2 diff rules. The rule of 51 means that only the top 51 paid players on your team count towards the cap.

Waht you are refering to is June 1st rule which states by cutting a player after june 1 you split the cap hit over 2 seasons. Releasing Allen will save us 3 mill on cap so no need to wait. Also he has a bonus due on April 1 so we would not wait until June to cut him in any case
