Sorry, old joke.
Players who did not declare in time for the Draft can enter the Supplemental Draft. It is usually held in the Summer and on a Conference call the teams have with the NFL they go in order and can make a big on a player. Highest bid gets him. They then lose that pick in the next year's draft.
So if you don't have a 1st, you can't pay a 1st. If you pay a 3rd, you lose that 3rd next year.
Yes, but the team still has to pay the highest price of any team taking a chance on that player. If his favorite team is the Raiders and hates the Chargers but the Chargers bid higher, then he is going to his bitter rivals.Romo 2 Austin;3332245 said:Got it, but couldn't a player speak with their favorite team and enter the Supplemental draft on purpose to give that team a better opportunity to get him.

The highest bid, in other words, the Rams.Romo 2 Austin;3332253 said:How would they value 1st round picks, say the Giants offered a 1st round pick but then the Rams offered a 1st round pick after the Giants, who gets the player.
