Cardinals re-sign Moses to return kicks By Darren Urban, TribuneOctober 26, 2005With kick returner Reggie Swinton likely to miss Sunday’s game in Dallas, the Cardinals re-signed return man J.J. Moses Tuesday to take Swinton’s place.Related LinksArizona Cardinals / NFL
Coach Dennis Green was unavailable, but in a radio interview with XTRA (910 AM), Green said Monday’s surprise release of receiver Charles Lee was also directly related to the Swinton injury.

“Reggie is playing with a torn ligament in his toe,” Green said. “We have to rest him to get him healthy.”

Moses was with the Cards for their final preseason game in August, and he was the team’s initial choice to replace J.R. Redmond, who suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. Moses was then cut when the Cards had the chance to sign Swinton.

Moses replaces Lee on the roster, although the Cardinals now don’t have any depth beyond their top three receivers — Larry Fitzgerald, Bryant Johnson and Anquan Boldin. The Cards have raw rookie seventh-round pick Leron McCoy, unless Green decides to use a tight end like Teyo Johnson, who was a receiver in college.

The 5-foot-6 Moses returned 59 kickoffs for Houston in 2004 for a 22.1-yard average, and 36 punts for an 8.6 average. Swinton is averaging 8.0 yards a punt return and 23.7 yards per kickoff return.
