Carlos Watkins made a great play

Just watched the end of the Houston game again.
I know everyone gives Tank credit for the big 3rd down stop last week, and rightly so. But Carlos Watkins made a massive hustle tackle to keep Moore out of the end zone on second down. LVE had overrun the play and Moore looked sure to score. But Watkins came out of nowhere and stopped Moore at the half yard line and set up Tank’s heroics. Great play by an unsung hero.

Notice also that Diggs just stands there and watches Moore go past him trying to score. Three Cowboys either whiffed or missed and yes Watkins somehow managed to keep him out. Great play which turned out to be very big.

Initially the WR claimed a TD and it almost looked like , getting his knee down in the yard or half yard was huge.

Hooker overran the play before LVE and Diggs took a bad angle and was slow to react.

Watkins made an amazing play because he had no leverage from that angle.

Hooker over ran it on purpose. Lve was supposed to see hookers angle and adjust. Instead he ran the same angle as hooker.

Wrong.

Hooker overran it by 6 feet.

LVE overran it by 6 inches.

No defender overruns a tackle by 6 feet on purpose.

If Hooker had just gotten a small push on the player, then LVE would have been in good position to clean it up.

Yes I pointed this out early in the week. Hooker and LVE both whiffed on the tackle, Diggs wasnt really interested in getting his hands dirty either. Watkins came from the other side of the field to save the game.

Exactly. To bring down a receiver heading straight in from that angle before was inane. Also wasn’t implying only LVE overran or didn’t make the play, though when he arrived the outside was basically taken away by Hookers overrun. And Diggs is Diggs, I expect little from him from a tackling perspective. It is what it is with him.
