Tyler Guyton only started five games in 2022, but he immediately jumps off the screen as a polished blocker with 14 total games played in three seasons. Playing right tackle across from 2023 first-round pick Anton Harrison, Guyton was a natural pass blocker with refined patience. He's a standout athlete who can effortlessly pivot from one target to another when he needs to. Guyton is a nasty run blocker who will pancake a defender when he has the chance. There's room for improvement with how he engages with his hands in the run game so they can't slip off his grip, and he must take better angles when landmarking upfield. Without a doubt, Bucky Irving has breakaway speed that can cover up significant flaws or mistakes. Sometimes that's an issue, as Irving will bounce outside the tackle box when he doesn't need to, but it can still pay off. Irving is competitive and works to keep plays alive effectively. He keeps his eyes up, scanning for a rushing lane when one isn't obvious. Though Irving has trouble slowing down quickly to change direction and will sometimes run into a blocker, he's decisive and won't take many tackles for loss. A strong inside-zone or outside-zone team should love Irving's ability to hit big plays and stress defenses. He could become a starter on a pass-heavy team that wants a variance back who is a major receiving threat as well.

After season's end Nugent transferred to Michigan where as a fifth year senior Nugent saw action in 13 games and played a total of 729 snaps for the Wolverines. He allowed 7 QB hurries, one QB hit, and no sacks while playing at center. Showing some nastiness to his game, Nugent will sustain blocks through the whistle, thriving when he’s in the phone booth. Outstanding in the screen game, both because of his instincts to deceive defenders and mobility to get out in front and land blocks. Coordinated when moving to the second level as a run blocker, capable of landing blocks on the move. Nugent has a high football IQ, handling protection calls at the line of scrimmage.

A late bloomer, Patterson really caught the attention of NFL scouts this past season, playing all over the field at a very high level. He established himself as a lockdown boundary cornerback, relying on his quick instincts and recovery speed. While he tends to provide a bit of extra cushion underneath in coverage, Patterson rarely ever gives up the big play while making quite a few of his own. He brings the ‘juice,’ and teammates feed off his energy.

Dominique Hampton is one of the dwindling super-seniors left on rosters. Hampton came into his own more last season, producing a career-high 42 tackles and four pass breakups. At 6'2" and 220 pounds, he stands out due to his great size. He's not been overly productive beyond tackles, but he's impressively fast and capable of lining up against slot receivers and tight ends. He's highly competitive at the catch point and as a tackler.

The part of the game that stands out for Jackson Mitchell is that every time you turn on a UConn game, Mitchell makes a big play. He is very instinctual and a capable athlete who has recorded 100+ tackles in each of the last two seasons. His big play rate, which is a combination of tackles for loss, sacks, interceptions, forced fumbles, and fumble recoveries, was a 2.7% rate – very, very high for a defender who played over 1000 snaps last season.
