Cowboys Mock Draft

Posted by CBS11

Okay, I was asked to come up with a 7-ROUND!!! Cowboys Mock Draft for this week's edition of "The Blitz", which airs right after "The Score" at 11pm Sundays. Here's a sneak preview. And, I should point out these picks are not "predictions" of who the Cowboys will draft (in fact, I've seen no evidence that they have any interest at all in the top two players I select), rather these players are who I think the Cowboys should draft.

2nd Round--#51--PATRICK CHUNG--S--Oregon

3rd Round--#69--MIKE THOMAS--WR--Arizona

TRADE WITH MIAMI--send any combination of Bobby Carpenter, Sam Hurd, Isaiah Stanback, 5th round draft pick? to Parcells/Ireland for their 3rd round pick--

3rd Round--#87 (from Miami)--STEPHEN McGEE--QB--Texas A&M

4th Round--#101--ZACK FOLLETT--OLB--California

4th Round--#117--JASON PHILLIPS--ILB--TCU

5th Round--#156--DAN GRONKOWSKI--TE--Maryland

5th Round--#166--ROGER ALLEN--OG--Missouri Western

5th Round--#172--JOE BURNETT--CB--Central Florida

6th Round--#197--BRICE McCAIN--CB--Utah

6th Round--#208--TERRANCE KNIGHTON--NT--Temple

7th Round--#210--CECIL NEWTON--C--Tennessee State

7th Round--#227--DUDLEY GUICE--WR--NW State

So, who are these players? Details to come this week. And, I'm sure changes to come too! Plus, as we get closer to draft day Saturday, I'll try to blog my thoughts on who I think the Cowboys WILL take (pending availability, of course).

Best part of his draft is that we potentially get rid of Carpenter. :laugh1:

On a serious note, I'd be fine with that draft.

The trade would be cool, but please do not use a 3rd on a QB.

i like the ideal of packaging either bobby carpenter, and other players, at least someone maybe even a greg ellis and getting a 3rd rounder.

AGREED! And taking Burnett & McCain back to back is overkill. Other than that, this draft is good to go.

Unfortunately, the blogger is probably just pissing in the wind, just like the rest of us. :D

I'm not enamored with the STEPHEN McGEE--QB--Texas A&M pick. Maybe later in the draft but I would not be thrilled with a 3rd pick for him

Agreed.

I like McGee a lot, but the third round is just too high a pick for a third string quarterback.

Possibly the worst draft scenario I've ever seen. Trade for a 3rd round pick to take a run and shoot QB? I don't get that at all but hey, will probably never happen so I won't worry the small stuff.
