So the game that will determine the season i against an opponent that's also struggling? This is the false confidence people talk about when it comes to this team.
Not really. Every year there are usually a few “tipping points” and pivotal games. Win and things can improve and the team can get on a roll. Lose and the confidence and camaraderie go out the window and things start to fall apart
IMO— the game against SF is pivotal for a few reasons:
1. They are a team that we have not been able to overcome in recent years. Beat them, and the team will gain some confidence and momentum
2. The bye week represents a natural breakpoint in the season where you have some time to tweak and implement a few things and improve. The team needs a lot of work— and the bye gives them a little more time to tinker and try and gel as a team. A fresh W off a bye can provide a spark for a struggling team
3. Health. Lots of injuries this year, so getting some key guys back on the field can boost morale and focus. If Dallas comes out and plays well with some of their leaders back, then that can also carry-over.
The SF game is the key moment in this season. How will they respond to getting humiliated and punched in the face by Detroit? A W vs SF would be a step in the right direction at least
