I was so happy CeeDee Lamb's chains were finally cut last season. I was also ecstatic I drafted him on my fantasy team too but that is besides the point. The point is he is getting paid. The only questions are how much and by whom?

How could the Cowboys move forward with out Lamb? He personally owned the NFL last year and this is with a slow start before he complained about not getting enough targets. Has any Cowboys WR ever accomplished this?

That's great for Lamb, but I think it also shows a problem for our team. Our receiving corps outside of him wasn't great. Our top two receivers are Lamb and Ferguson while Cooks has dropped some from his peak level and is not as much of a threat as he was.

Hopefully, 2024 was a transition year for Jake Ferguson. I am *expecting* better production this season. Ferguson is not a top tight end in the league but he has demonstrated he has potential of reaching that tier below them.

He is dependable and can pour emotional energy into the offense. He could regress but it would be unfair if they do not plan more for him this season to prove he is not up to the task.

Although I hope Ferguson continues to advance, he's a top-10 tight end already. He was eighth in receiving yards among tight ends last year and ninth in receptions.

Of course, like with Lamb, that may be as much a product of our other receiving options as it is Ferguson's ability.

Ceedee truly played at an elite level from the 2nd half of the 2023 season to the present.....the only blemish I saw was the most meltdown early in the Packers game.

I don't know what the hell that was about?

My apologies. When I said 'top tight end', I was referring to top three or four, solely in my opinion, such as Travis Kelce, Mark Andrews, T.J. Hockenson or even Sam LaPorta--not specifically based upon statistics. LaPorta knocked my socks off last year, so I am prematurely including him in *my* top tight end tier.

Called the QB looking like a deer in the headlights. Ceedee unlike Dak has performed well in big games cfp games, etc. Sal has crumbled in college and has confused that into nfl

Any speculation can go beyond the receiver Lamb concerning that particular mystery. That said, the mystery extended to defense, coaching and special teams. Even freaking Brandon Aubrey was hexed that game...

Cooks was targeted exactly 100 times less than Lamb- 181 to 81, and 19 times less than Ferguson- 102 to 81.
Yet the WR2 had only 4 less TD catches than WR1_ 12 to 8...which is 3 more than TE1.
Yards per catch__Cooks was less than a yard behind Lamb -- 13.0 to 12.2.
The Cowboys' HC\OC\QB need to step up and scheme collectively to increase Cooks' involvement in the offense this upcoming season.

Who cares about stats. We finish with a top 3 offense the past 4-5 seasons and can’t put up more than 20 in a playoff game the same span. Stats are meaningless except to a player, especially a player on this team cause they know big money follows those stats. I also like cee dee but I don’t think anyone really fears him like Irvin, Rice, Moss etc. that to me he is superstar money but part of cee dees problem could be the qb. Imagine if he had someone who could read a defense.

That is fair. As great as Lamb was when GB took him away only Ferguson could make a play. Some of those passes Dak was trying to force were hard to watch. Balls in the dirt and the like.

I know people do not want to hear that the connection between Cooks and the other WR has improved but if it is true that is a solution to the problem.

CD is NOT feared as Jefferson or Hill, Chase, etc.
Most of his stats came against sub-talented teams.

It's hard to constantly include such a short WR whose best route is going deep but can be hard to find with taller DBs covering him. Cowboys seriously need another WR weapon. I'm afraid it's going to hurt them once again if they reach the playoffs. Opponents know all they need to do is double team CeeDee and that pretty much shuts down our Offense since we don't have a running game.

One of the most ignorant posts around here. You forget Dak threw for over 400 yards and 3 TDs against the Packers? The problem isn't Dak. It's the fact the Cowboys don't have a legit 2nd WR threat to help take pressure off of CeeDee from getting double teamed. Plus, we once again had no running game for the 3rd year in a row thanks to lesser talent at RB and definitely because of an aging Oline who was constantly injured and couldn't even push opposing D-lines more than half a yard off the line of scrimmage.

Dak's not the one who gave up 7 TDs on 8 drives against the Packers. Go rewatch the game and learn something before you speak next time.
Dak played a perfect game if you're a Packers fan! :muttley:

Cooks' numbers have dropped the last two seasons. He's targeted less because he's not as good as he was. Players who rely on speed lose a half-step or a step with age and that can make a big difference. Lamb is targeted more because he gets open more. That technically should open up more opportunities for Cooks against 1-on-1 coverage, but the numbers show that we throw to Lamb and Ferguson more because they are open more.
