One of our ceiling fans went kaput last night and I got another one today, but I forgot to measure the down pole, so I just guessed.

The original fan has a 6in down pole while the new one has 4.5in. Will the 1.5in difference be a huge deal, circulation wise?

Thanks!

1.5 inches won't matter much to circulation as long as your ceilings aren't really high. (I have 12' cathedral ceiling with a 3 1/2 foot pole placing my fan blades at about 8 1/2 feet) The one thing you definitely need to worry about is if it's a cathedral ceiling and the pole isn't long enough that the blades clear the ceilings downward slope.

Nah, this is just a standard ceiling. I didn't think it would be a huge deal, but just needed at least one other person to confirm.

You just might a chain extension if the chains are so short that you have trouble reaching them. Of course, that isn't a big deal at all.

Ours is actually connected to a wall switch and has a remote control as well, so I don't have to worry about that for once!

Search your box, usually fans include both extensions.
