looks like it, he had 3 lovers, while being married to wife Anne Marrowe, and fathered 7 children through those women

and prior to WWII, he made many anti-Semetic remarks

weird

Bob, if my love for you was an ocean... Lindy would need TWO planes to cross it!

 right back at you, slick

of 42k posts? Man, I'm ashamed that i post on this board enough to get 2000+ in 5 years. I can't imagine the crushing shame of over 10 grand a year!

I agree that "the times" were different.................so folks who didn't or couldnt know any better should be given a little pass.

Remember Jack Johnson? The Heavyweight Champ? Their nearly killed the guy for being black, winning the belt, and hanging with white women!

White folk back then had to fall in line and go with the status quo to get along with the other swells. Ignorant? Yeah. Racist? Of course. Hell, I even gave my old man (Archie Bunker) a pass for all his racist rants and bigoted ramblings. Ty Cobb was also famous for this kind of stuff.

You shoulda' seen the look on my folks face when they finally met my Filipino/Japanese wife! Now, suddenly, they were "all inclusive" and "accepting" of all peoples!!! They put on a good act when they saw my wedding pictures and saw that my best man was a black guy too!!! It's amazing what people do and say when "it" arrives at their own doorstep.

Celebrate Lindbergh for what he brought to the aviation table, and ignore the rest. It was the 1920's for heavens sake...........................

After Lindbergh made the flight, he ended up going to the Air Force Base where my grandfather was stationed to get away from all the publicity.

This is my grandfather in front of the Spirit of St. Louis. I have one pic of just the plane, too. I'll have to scan it.

George Washington owned slaves.

Times were different.

Tom Jefferson had children with his slaves.

I agree with you, times were different and you cannot use 2009 views when considering how others acted in the past.

Well, it wasn't his cigarette. That's what he's holding in his front hand. hah :)

The thing about comparing Jefferson and Washington is that washington accepted slavery but gradually turned against it and by the time he died he made his will out to make sure all his slaves would be freed. Jefferson started out very anti slavery yet seemed in the end to embrace parts of it. Very weird.
