Akin Ayodele, OLB, Jacksonville [72 tackles, 4 FF]

Very good athlete with tremendous size at the OLB spot. Ayodele has slowly been coming on the past few years, and is finally showing the talent that was promised. 6'2, 251 lbs, Ayodele is the type of player who, when he hits you, you stay hit. Shows great explosion and burst out of his stance, he blows up tight ends off the line, and wraps up well on ball carriers. His biggest problem has been a lack of wind, and coupled with mediocre pass coverage, he is limited to being a two-down player. Slightly limited in his hip movement, he can be beat by quick runners around the outside. However, given the opportunity to line up a ball carrier, he is lights out consistent.

GOOD FITS: Jacksonville, Miami, New Orleans, Oakland, Houston, Dallas

EARLY PICK: A Dallas native, there is no reason to think he wouldnt be interested in returning to the big D. With Dat Nguyen likely to retire, and Scott Fujita and Eric Ogbagu free agents, Ayodele would fit perfectly in the Tuna's scheme opposite the explosive DeMarcus Ware. Houston may also come calling if they dont believe Jason Babin can step up and take his place in the starting lineup. If not, a replacement for Shantee Orr may be on their list of priorities. Oakland and New Orleans will likely seek to bring in a player of his caliber, young and less expensive than the premier free agents. Jacksonville, however, does not lose much this year, and can likely afford to bring Ayodele back, even franchising him if need be.

I really like him. He is a Purdue grad and tormented Kansas State a few years ago in a bowl game. He was a DE in college.

Cool... a big body OLB... bring his seventy two tackles and I like throwing in those forced fumbles... gonna need more of those in the opposition's backfield next season.

He is a better pass rusher than coverage specialist. Would love this guy in Dallas, then we could move Fujita to the middle if Burnett is still suffering from a torn ACL.

I initially liked Kalimba Edwards as our number one FA LB, but I have switched to Ayodele since he is much more established at the LB position

Yeah, I'm the guy who brought out the original thread. Hey who knows, Jerry might sign both these guys and move one of them to the middle. BTW Edwards was a linebacker in college, so he has experience also.

Its been awhile though between college and the pros for him. He is a proven pass rusher though

think he would be a great fit opposite ware, only worry that i would have is pass coverage, but he shouldnt have to do that a whole lot

The problem is Edwards is a much better pass rusher. He would probably get about 8-10 sacks in this scheme. Adoyele is a much better cover guy like you hinted. It's like comparing apples and oranges. Alot of fans want either Peterson or Abraham, but with that money we could sign both these guys and move Adoyele to the middle. That would be one hell of a linebacking core! Opposing quarterbacks would have no idea where the rush is coming from. With Parcells coming back, I think one of them or maybe both will sign with the cowboys. Bill wants to win now and both players fit his scheme perfectly.

I really like it as well, although players like Manny Lawson, Carpenter, Brooks and Dumervil are sexy. There is nothing out there in FA when it comes to offensive line with Bentley and Hutchinson likely Franchised. One of the unquestioned strengths of this draft is offensive tackle which these moves would allow us to do perfectly.

I like the way you think.

I was about to ask if that guy was you. Scott is pretty stout. You don't realize how big professional atheletes are until you meet them in real life. I remember when i met Kurt Angle last year in Mosul, the dude wasn't very tall but was built like a moose.

John Abraham

Guy is is a hell of a pass rusher, but I think we need two linebackers not just one. Abraham will single handidly kill free agency for the boys if we sign him. Besides the guy is always hurt.

We could actually mix in a lot more 4-3 with Abraham. We could have OT's daffy. One play he's a 3-5 OLB opposite Ware. Then he swings in as a DE on the other side with Ware up as a 4-3 OLB Moving around!

He'd cost some but I'd roll the dice. Playmakers win games.

I like your thinkning on Kaliba Edwards. He played both OLB and DE at S.Carolina under Holtz. He was actually better OLBthan Abraham in college. Abraham was a better pass rusher. I don't think the Lions scheme fit him well. I think Edwards is well suited to play OLB in the 3/4. I also heard that Edwards is being moved to OLB in the 4-3 for the Lions. That would be a mistake.

I didn't know Edwards was a free agent.
