My professor/advisor who was from the New England area showed us shots from her family photo album that had lobsters that came to people's waists with the tails on the ground. They weren't that uncommon even into the 1930's and 1940's.

You use bing? :muttley: :laugh2:

When you click on the link and that's where the video was from yes.

Maybe I should have looked around on Google+ so you wouldn't get your panties in a bunch.

I used to go to Vegas alot on business...

We used to eat at a nice restaurant called the Rosewood Grill... may not be there any more...

Anyway, they took us in the back and showed us a 40 pound lobster they had. It was freaky. They said it wouldn't be any good to eat at that weight so they kept it as a pet... It was about 4 feet long with massive claws...

They said it was over 100 years old, but they had no way of knowing for sure...

The best lobsters to eat are the ones they call "chicken lobsters"... which are lobsters with good claw size and weigh about 1.5 pounds...

Massive! The difference in size between his pinchers and the mens' hands is incredible. I'm glad they decided to let him live.

Speaking of Vegas, I netted $548 on the poker table last night. Woot. 'Twas a good night.

The freshwater taste equivalent to Homarus americanus.

They hatch in brackish water and migrate upstream. TTBOMK, only Macrobrachium rosenbergii can go over dams. Tail tastes like shrimp, the claws taste like lobster. Used to hunt them with a spear gun in the San Marcos and Comal Rivers.

If you do a web search, you can buy farm-raised ones. I highly, highly recommend them.
