I've been to Chicago many times, but every time I've been there either the Cubs were away, not playing, or it wasn't baseball season.

Well, the wife and I went to Chicago for a long weekend and I finally made it to a game at Wrigley Field. It was a nasty day. Around 45-50 degrees and raining. Not to mention when the game did finally start after a two hour delay, the Cubs proceeded to get pounded into oblivion. (12-2 final)

Anyway, I was quite excited to finally get to see a game at Wrigley Field! If you haven't been you must do this. It's an old time park and definitely worth visiting.

Went last summer to Chicago, the Cubs lost to the Braves after they were ahead and a dumb decision to put in a relief pitcher who allowed 4 WALKS in a row, plus a double or something for the Braves to win.

Not that it mattered, but the season at that point was over for them but I would have liked to see them win.

I love Wrigley Field and Wrigleyville! Glad you had a chance to go...sorry the weather sucked.
I went a couple of years ago with my girlfriend, hit the Cubs game on Friday, Cowboys Game on Sunday, and the weather was perfect all weekend long. (or was it Saturday and Monday night?) I forget but we had a blast. Chicago is a great, great summer city.

I love Chicago. Great city.

did you get the full experience by riding the EL to the game?

Been to Wrigley many times. great stadium for history.
watched a game in a Box Suite... that's a great way to watch the game.

No it was pouring rain so we just took a cab, but we did ride it back to State after the game.

As many times as I've been to Chicago, I've never been interested in going to a Cubs game...even when my Dad lived literally 10 mins away from Wrigley field.

But I love the area, tho. I go there often to hang out.

I wanna go to a Bears game, tho...against the 'Boys, of course. Dad won't go with me otherwise.

I can see that, but I would still visit Wrigley Field. I mean, buy the cheapest seat you can find and go in and check it out. You don't have to even stay for the game. It has a great history and visiting it just for the history is more than worth it.

The wife and I love the city too. I could easily live there. People are so much nicer there too than in Dallas. In NY; (Manhattan specifically) it's not that people are mean, they just don't talk. In Dallas, they are just straight up *******s.

It's a thought. I'm going in June. May take my friends there who have never been there. I'll look into a game.

Ha! You think so? Maybe it's the places I go, because I don't find people in Chicago all that nice, at all. lol At least, not all that much nicer than any other city.

I think people in San Antonio are the nicest of any location.

Driving in Chicago is NO FUN. none at all.

I usually am able to get to Chicago 2 or 3 times a month. I love the city, but hate the traffic there.

Chicago is the one city whose traffic makes me long for Houston's traffic.

And my Dad scares the crap out of me on the highway. I always remind him that I'd like to make it back home and if he keeps driving like that, I'm gonna tell my Mom he's trying to kill me. lol

I stay in downtown. (close to the mile most of the time) I care nothing for the burbs of Chicago.

The ability to take the train to the airport is golden. You can do that in SF too. NY has half baked versions. You can't take the train to the airport, but you can get close and then switch to a shuttle. I usually just drive to them or take a cab from Manhattan.

The Chicago train system is sweet. Used it to get around the entire time I was there. What is it, $10 for unlimitied weekend use? Something like that....great deal. And it drops you off right at Wrigley Field...I mean right behind home plate!

I always like going to Wrigley in the summertime. The ivy on the outfield walls just added to the overall experience. It's a beautiful field in an old stadium. What is the cost of tickets for the left field bleachers now days? Used to be one dollar.
