After screaming into my pillow (I have sleeping children) for about an hour, I realized there are a lot of things to be excited about.

For instance….
1) We are 4-2 mostly with our starter out and the worst competition is over. We are likely a 12+ win team this year

2) We have a backup qb! Unless someone thinks he’s starter worthy, lock that guy up for 5 years. He’s earned our trust and money.

3) Turpin is real. We finally have an exciting returner

4) Steele officially didn’t regress and last year wasn’t a fluke. We have one of the best RTs in the league going forward

5) Micah got humbled. He got used and attacked this game, and he’s going to take that personally (like MJ)

6) I think by the playoffs (or maybe trade deadline) Schultz leaving isn’t scary anymore. Got some intriguing TEs for sure.

7) Don’t sweat Jourdan Lewis’ play because I’m 99% sure Bland is going to be a major upgrade

etc, etc…..Cheer up and let’s get ready for Detroit!

Nice thread. Yeah, I kinda think so too. Who would have thought that we'd be 4-2 at this point. Alot of football still to be played, but if Dak doesn't f*** it up, we should be fine until the play offs (aka making them) and then it's a whole new ballgame anyway.

Oh, and thank you Cooper, you did a good job of keeping this ship afloat. You can be proud of yourself.

Why don’t we know how to stop the read option that isolates our best player and puts them into a 1 vs 2 situation?

And then you go 'oh crap' when you realize Dak is coming back.

It’s a positive for him returning.

Rush really hasn’t been asked to do much after the Bengals and Giants games.

We’ve been lucky he has hit the passes needed. If he hits Lamb on the deep pass things could’ve been different.

However, teams are just pressing up and forcing him to pass. That’s why he tossed 3 picks last nights

But at least we have something to compare him against when he comes back. Cooper provided a mildly consistent litmus test that we can compare Dak against going forward.

I’ve remained uncritical of Dak to this point, but If Dak doesn’t win 13+ games (I think Cooper would win 11-12 with this team), I feel justified in being critical at that point, because I know what this team is with a backup

The Cowboys could very easily have a record of 0-6 after losing their starting quarterback. Many in here (not mentioning who) thought they'd lose the first 2 & 3 games BEFORE Dak was even hurt. This team will be there in the playoffs. Karma is waiting....

Agree 100%. Losing sucks, and this team got popped in the mouth right out of the gate yesterday. We saw Parsons get abused, some of the worst tackling in the secondary i've seen from this team in years, the left side of the OL struggle all game, and we saw definitively why Cooper Rush is a backup qb in this league.

Good news is that for as many mistakes as we saw yesterday, those are almost all fixable. The piece I do worry about is the LG situation.

I dont share as much of your optimism but agree, maybe 10-11 wind and WC gives us a shot to get momentum and play our best ball in December.

but to say the worst is behind us with GB, eagles and NYG still to come..Yes Dak coming back should give us spark and as he gets his feet under him , we should be improved.

also we will likely end up 5-1 in our division as Philly and NYG have to come to Dallas for their respective 2nd games
with GB, TB, AZ, SF and LAR all looking questionable things could end up a lot better in 22 then in 21

IMO LG is our only true weak spot one we get Dak back and bit healthier on Offense. with TB at C that's not great combo in that gap

Peters would be better if he could play more snaps.
