Chiefs | Team signs Edwards

Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the Kansas City Chiefs have signed free-agent LB Donnie Edwards (Chargers) to a three-year contract worth about $14 million.
was going to post this but i thought it was buried somewhere, saw it about hour ago.....good deal for him and slowly but surely herm is trying to get a little D in KC, something verneil never really cared about.

He wasn't coming here. As much as James didn't look good over the last quarter of the season I expect that he'll be given a very long leash to improve his pass coverage responsibilities. Plus I do think fatigue did figure into his performance.

Blech. :(

It is pretty obvious that James is a good two down player for us, and with our other LB's like Carp, Ware, Akin and Burnett he shouldnt be in on 3rd and longs IMO.

I hope not. I haven't figured out the <3 for James since he arrived, and that includes 2005.

For those of you who held out hope we could sign Donnie Edwards, KFFL just reported he signed a 4 year $14M contract with the Chiefs.

Since Eagles have offered Fowler a contract and I think he really wants get real change as a starting LB, I think the Cowboys will let him go which leaves us with only Ware/Ayodele/James/Ellis/Carpenter/Burnett left so we a little thin there. Wonder if Phillips has any interest in Charger LB Carlos Polk who could bring needed experience in the 34. I also presume Cowboys will also draft a LB, probably on the first day. I would like to see us draft a CB/WR/OL on the first day but needs at LB might change that unless somehow we can pick up another 3rd rounder.

Wonder whether Phillips has any interest in the Chargers' LB Polk. He'd bring needed experience in Phillips 34 to the Cowboys. Also wonder if we need pick up a replacement for Kenyon Coleman.

What is good about how this team is getting built, is that the Boyz have all of their 10 draft picks!! You can fill lots of holes with young, strong players!

They might not start...but, they can fill alot of needs if the Boyz play it smart...which I think they will!

;)

All the locals around here have been wanting Edwards. Even the media types have mentioned his name. While no one in the KC front office has said anything publically that I have heard, the word on the street is Carl Peterson (GM) wanted Edwards back. Most were pretty mad he left in the first place.

Edwards will turn 34 next month. I'm glad we passed on him.

Polk just turned 30. Might be OK for depth on the inside.

Randall Godfrey's still out there... :D
