Strong rumors coming out of Westwood tonight that UCLA will hire Chris Petersen. This would so make that 50-0 nothing raping a little easier to take.

U of H coach Sumlin and Jon Gruden are supposedly on the short list and much more realistic, Gruden would be the sexy choice for recruiting, Sumlin seems too much a Texas product, his recruiting network is in the state of Texas, he would be fish out of water in LA and they're not looking patient for any time to adjust.Hoofbite;4274711 said:Every time there's a suspected opening in CA, Petersen's name comes up.
Tell them Cali boys to leave my Coach alone!!!!!!!!!Aikbach;4275028 said:U of H coach Sumlin and Jon Gruden are supposedly on the short list and much more realistic, Gruden would be the sexy choice for recruiting, Sumlin seems too much a Texas product, his recruiting network is in the state of Texas, he would be fish out of water in LA and they're not looking patient for any time to adjust.
I also think mike leach is a natural fit for UCLA, my smart money says Gruden will be their guy, but they should also consider Leach.
I think Gruden is a more natural fit for LA, he won't be intimidated by the jump or have as big an adjustment and can bring a west coast offense.jcollins28;4275092 said:Take this for what its worth. One of the main reasons Petersen has stayed at BSU is because he has a special needs child that was being treated by a specific physician in Boise. Well, that physician now works at UCLA. I have no links, this is just info that I have read on our boards. Take that and the rumored 4 mil a year and I could see Petersen leaving BSU.
Interesting, sometimes though that first choice isn't always what is needed, Petersen's greatest asset if he comes aboard, will be the weak competition of the Pac 12 South. I question if he'll know how to recruit California any better than his predecessor, a UCLA alum and former assistant, but he is a good guy but I personally feel he's better suited for a smaller program.jcollins28;4276203 said:I talked to a few of my former UCLA sources tonight and they are re-iterating what Tracy has said, and that is Boise State's Chris Petersen is the main target and UCLA is willing to change its approach (without sacrificing its integrity) and offer him close to $4 million a year, and pay his assistants to make it very attractive situation.
It is also a great sign for Dan Guerrero to meet with Petersen, and shows how his thinking has changed. The last time UCLA went through this, Petersen twice told Guerrero not to get on a plane because he wasn't interested in the job. That has not taken place this time.
Finally, Troy Aikman is involved in this, and Aikman has always been active behind the scenes and has always been very good to UCLA, although not a lot of people on the outside know it. My sources were not ready to say Petersen was a slam dunk, but they are very encouraged by it, and more importantly, UCLA has shown a willingness to do things differently (in a good way) than they have in the past.
I think it's better this way, i'm not sure he was cut out for the LA scene and expectations.jcollins28;4280427 said:BSU will name Chris Petersen as their new athletic director today at 5:00. Damn....we were so close!

Wouldn't be surprised to see a pro coach come to UCLA, i think Gruden is now the number one guy.
