2006 Season

Williams was the Aggies’ top receiver in 2006, playing in all 12 games. He became the ninth player in school history to earn All-American honors as he was named to the SI.com All-America Honorable Mention team. Williams led the nation in receiving yards per game (117.9) and catches per game (7.66). His 1,861 all-purpose yards also ranked fourth in the nation. He was also the only Aggie to be named first team all-WAC. Williams led the Aggie receiving corps in with a school records for receptions in a season (92) and receiving yards in a season (1,425). Williams’ became just the third player in school history to record over 1,000 yards receiving in a single-season and the first Aggie player to go over 1,000 yards receiving since 1995. He also led the team in touchdown receptions (12), which is second all-time in a single-season. Williams also broke the school record for most 100-yard receiving games in a season with seven, including a 13 reception, 191 yard performance against #15 Boise State (10/15), which is sixth all-time for receiving yards in a single-game. He led the team in scoring with 72 points on the year and moved into the top-10 for a career in pass receptions (104), reception yards (1,512) and touchdown receptions (12). In his first career start, Williams caught a career-high seven receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown versus Southeastern Louisiana (8/31). He then broke his career-best in receptions against UTEP (9/30) with 10 catches and a touchdown. Williams then put together a three game streak of 100-yard receiving games with 111 yards versus Idaho (10/7), 191 against #15 Boise State and 160 versus Hawaii (10/21). He then recorded the same feat during the Aggies’ last three games with 121 receiving against Fresno State (11/11), 161 versus Utah State (11/25) and 140 in the season finale versus Louisiana Tech (12/2). Williams also tallied two multi touchdown games catching a career-high three touchdowns versus Utah State (11/25) and two against Hawaii (10/21). His first career touchdown came against Southeastern Louisiana on a 37-yard pass from Chase Holbrook. Williams was also part of the longest play and reception in school history on a 96-yard touchdown pass from Holbrook against Idaho (10/7). Williams was also the Aggies leading kick returner with 301 kick-off return yards on 13 attempts and 92 yards on six returns on the punt team.



2005 Season

Chris played in ten games, while starting in three of those games for the Aggies. He gained 12 yards rushing, caught the ball 12 times for 97 yards, and had a total of 207 yards on kick returns. His longest kick return came against nationally ranked Cal (9/23) when he ran the ball back 94 yards for a touchdown. That return was featured as one Chris Berman’s ESPN Play’s of the Week. It also ranks as the 13th longest return in Aggie history. Chris also caught three passes for 45 yards against Cal, where he attained his longest catch of his career for 36 yards. He had a career-high four receptions at Louisiana Tech (10/1). He had a career high three kick returns where he gained 52 yards against Nevada (11/12). Chris ranked third on the team in kick returns and finished the season with 316 all-purpose yards which came to an average of 31.6 yards per game.



High School

Williams ran for nearly 2,100 yards and 33 touchdowns as a senior in 2004 at Rio Rancho High School, earning first team All-State honors. He scored 26 rushing touchdowns, three receiving touchdowns and returned three kicks for touchdowns in 11 games. He is also an outstanding track athlete, scoring 26 points at the 2005 Class 5A state championships. He won the 200-meter dash, the high jump and was a member of the state champion 4x100-meter relay team. He also won the state high jump and 200-meter dash title in 2003 & 2004.

10/02/07 - WR Chris Williams caught six passes for 47 yards, including a 6-yard touchdown in the first quarter. It was his eighth TD of the season and 21st of his career. He needs one more to tie for second place all-time at New Mexico State. Williams also returned three punts for 80 yards.

09/25/07 - GAME BALL GOES TO: WR Chris Williams - The junior playmaker posted his 10th career 100-yard game with nine receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown. He climbed to fourth on the school's all-time chart with 136 career receptions.

09/21/07 - WR Chris Williams earned WAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after catching nine passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns in the 29-24 win against UTEP. Both scores came in the fourth quarter on receptions of 82 and 59 yards.
