He is one of 2 players that felled in the draft and Jerry Dumbo GM Jones did not make a move to get them...Jalen Carter and Gonzalez.

To the OP question, if Gonzales is able to shut down CeeDee that will just play into Bellis gameplan. I think Ceedee with have an OK game, not great. We probably need our TE's and Gallup to step up this game.

Not upset at all with Billichick's defense coming to town...Lamb, Cooks, Gallup, et al will still make them pay. Then backs will warm the side lines up running and receiving as well. Not worried here.

Gonzalez is the real deal.

I still don't know how he fell so far in a weak draft class. If you want to run a man-heavy defense, you need a thoroughbred on the outside, and Gonzalez absolutely qualifies. He's got safety size paired with track-star speed. And he plays for a genius DC who features stud #1 corners. It is a match made in heaven.

And yes, he will be traveling with CeeDee. Normally, I would say that CeeDee's route-running savvy will give a rookie corner fits. But if Gonzalez is already shutting down TyFreak and Garrett Wilson, then I think he's up for the challenge.

Gonzalez may be the DROY when all is said and done. He is a legit shutdown CB so far. But, it's a long season and coaches have a way of figuring young players out if given the tape and time. Cee Dee is a pretty good player himself. But what is important is that Cooks, Gallup and even Tolbert contribute to the passing game. We'll first have to see if the Cowboys can run the football and that starts with the health of the OL.

Probably been already said, but Lamb is gonna be mostly in the slot. If Gonzalez is primarily RCB, he's not gonna be
matched up with Lamb.

If anything Gonz is gonna be matched up with Cooks,.. and the way we've been scheming and under-using the speedy Cooks, I wouldn't expect much in that area.

This Gonzalez is the real deal. They let him travel with the primary WR inside and out, with an occasional S over the top to keep the QB/WR guessing. I'm not saying he'll shut CD down, but this will be a game where you probably need Cooks/Gallup to show up.
