Chryst appears to be staying put

It looks like the University of Wisconsin football team has avoided one of the most damaging changes of the offseason.
Multiple sources have said UW offensive coordinator Paul Chryst is no longer a candidate to be the Pittsburgh head coach.
With Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett saying on Thursday he would act as his own offensive coordinator, that would seem to eliminate the chance of Chryst joining his friend Garrett.
Of course, Garrett might be in the market for a quarterbacks coach. The contracts of Cowboys wide receivers coach Ray Sherman, quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson and tight ends coach John Garrett all expire. Jason Garrett attempted to hire Chryst as quarterbacks coach in 2007, although it seems unlikely Chryst would leave now to be a quarterbacks coach after being courted for such high-profile jobs.
That leaves the Texas Longhorns, who interviewed Chryst this week to be the offensive coordinator.
Nothing has been announced, but reports out of Texas have Longhorns coach Mack Brown going with Boise State offensive coordinator Bryan Harsin and Texas running backs coach Major Applewhite as co-offensive coordinators.
What happened?
According to OrangeBloods.com, Brown reportedly wanted to hire Chryst and wanted an answer on Tuesday. But Chryst was a candidate at Pittsburgh and wanted to wait and see how that played out.
Now, it looks like Chryst will likely be staying with the Badgers, which, of course, would be huge news for the program in light of junior defensive end J.J Watt's announcement on Thursday that he is leaving for the NFL and speculation that junior tailback John Clay might also depart.
Of course, it has been a crazy week, so stay tuned. Things seem to change by the minute.
