CHUMA EDOGA SCOUTING REPORT

Overview

Edoga is a smooth, athletic run-blocker and an uneven, unrefined pass protector, which creates a challenge in projecting him. His ability to get to blocks in a variety of positions from his initial stance is something that cannot be taught. While some of his flaws in pass pro can be coached up, there are physical deficiencies that could plague him throughout his career. To become a successful NFL starter, he needs to check the strength, maturity, and durability boxes as early as possible in his career.

Strengths
  • Naturally gifted athlete with premium foot quickness
  • Long arms provide enough ammunition to stay at tackle despite his height
  • Very smart and understands his responsibilities on the field
  • Can fire out of stance and set out on top of rushers before they even get started
  • Has necessary footwork to redirect and mirror against rush counters
  • Out-racing him to the edge will be challenging for NFL edge rushers
  • Has flexibility and athletic tools to recover with improved positioning
  • Able to cross-face most 3-techniques and wall them off
  • Fluid and rhythmic in workup blocks
  • Top flight second-level talent with movement skills like a basketball player
  • Able to bend and adjust in space to land on moving targets
  • Top flight potential when asked to pull or handle play-side zone blocks
Weaknesses
  • Unusual build with long legs, thin calves and shorter torso
  • Core power misses the mark
  • Lacks fundamentals and control in his pass sets
  • Weight distribution for pass slides drifts outside and back
  • Must eliminate windup in his punch
  • Speed-to-power can walk him into pocket
  • Inconsistent base width with footwork that isn't repeatable from snap to snap
  • Falls forward into contact in effort to manufacture anchor
  • Slow to find work after his rusher voids
  • Narrow drive base allows opponents to escape from his power zone
  • Nonchalant as block finisher, allowing a win to turn into a loss

Great information!
Much appreciated!

Thanks, John

Nice depth guy
Can play guard and tackle
Hopefully we never see him on the field lol
If Tyron is starting he will get 4-6 games of playing time. Tyron was absolutely elite at one point, but he misses 4+ games every year and has definitely regressed.

Chances are Peters comes back this year, too, which will give us even more depth, if he shows up to TC.

I know some think he's completely done, but I'd say he has at least one more year left.

It's a good pickup. They will also get an Oline in the draft. More competition for the 7th/8th oline spot
