CN: A reader wants to know how far the Cowboys could move down and still have a shot at Tyron Smith?
WB: I don't think the Commanders would take him at 10. The two teams the Cowboys would have to be concerned about are Minnesota at 12 and Detroit at 13. With the Vikings, Bryant McKinnie is 32 and he didn't have a very good year at left tackle and Phil Loadholt took a step back last year. The Lions need a tackle in the worst way. If the Cowboys worked out a deal with Houston at 11, I could see the Vikings or Lions working out at deal with Washington at 10, so if the Cowboys were set on getting Tyron Smith, I think they need to stay at 9 and pick him.
CN: Next question is about interior offensive linemen. The reader mentions Jason Pinkston and wonders if he could be a rookie starter, at any point in the season and if there are other players who could become starters at guard, even if it's halfway through the year? WB: Pinkson is one who could do it, in my opinion. I think he can do it as a rookie at guard. He played in a big conference. I think he and Clint Boling from Georgia are two guys who are not getting a lot of love, but they are two guards who could start early for you, as 2nd or 3rd round picks.
CN: Reader wants to know if there are other inside linebackers like Sean Lee, guys who may not blow up the Combine workout charts but who are smart football players. WB: We've talked about Mason Foster, he's in that mold. Ross Holman from Ohio State is in that mold, but he's not a 3-4 inside guy. Nate Irving is stiff, but he's a real instinctive guy and he could be a fit inside, but he's a later round guy. I'm hearing 4th - 5th round for him. Chris White from Mississippi State is another late round guy as well.
