We resume our weekly chat with the National Football Post's draft expert Wes Bunting discussing risers and fallers, 2nd round options, the effect of the Wonderlic test and possible 1st round trade partners.
Cowboys Nation: Let's finish with the inside linebacker spot. I know I'm circling back to it, but we've had little to go on thus far and the team is looking for an inside linebacker to groom behind Bradie James. If the team moved down and gets an extra 2nd, I think a guy like Mason Foster could be a valid target. From what you tell me, he's instinctive and that's considered the most important quality in a 3-4 inside guy, more than speed, strength or anything else.
Wes Bunting: Honestly, I think he's ideally suited as a 4-3 strong-side backer and that's where I've ranked him thus far, but I think he could play inside in both schemes but he's just a natural football player. He's got better speed than we thought. He does't do a great job slipping blocks but he finds the football and slips them, so he's always around the football. He's more fluid in coverage than we give him credit for. He's a guy who'll play 6, 8, 10 years in the league. He's your typical 2nd round pick who'll come in, start early and you'll get a real value because you don't have to pay him a ton.
