It is not easy being quarterback. Sure, everyone gets the idea that the quarterback is the "Big Man On Campus," living a charmed life. In reality, while it may have some perks, the quarterback wears a heavy helmet. All of the hopes and expectations for the entire team are focused upon him, and, as the team's most visible player, the quarterback is also a lightning rod for any criticism the team may receive.

Junior Cole Beasley has seen the good and the bad of being a gridiron king. In his freshman season as starting quarterback for Little Elm, Beasley led the Lobos to the playoffs for the first time, and did it again the next year. This season, with the school moving up from 3A to 4A, the team has struggled against some District 9 powerhouses. With the losses come criticism, usually directed at Cole, who takes it all in stride. "That's all right, I like it. They still give it (criticism) to me."
