With all of the ongoing talk of conference realignments, I thought some of you might enjoy this link that ranks each college sports program (with by far most emphasis on football) based on number of criteria and then gives it a value for realignment.

I got a kick out of it.
There are many ways you can place value ona program and this guy takes into account all of the obvious ones.
Athletic Dept Total Revenue (includes TV and all else)
Football Success (includes 2/3 recent and 1/3 very long term)
Other Sports Success (see Director's Cup)
Football Attendance
Academics
Market related stuff (TV market, etc)
How they do it is debatable but from those I know in touch with the ADs and presidents, this is at least close to how they look into it.
You can see, based on this rough ranking, why certain teams have been sought after and others not as much.
Here are the top 20 according to this article. It's not set in stone but it's interesting nevertheless. They rank all D-1 programs.
