Don't see why they can not. Although I don't know if I have ever seen it happen and if I did, I don't recall.

It would have to be a INT or fumble recovery that ran all the way back for a score. If not I think they just have the recovering team start their chance at the 25. I don't think they would start the other teams chances anywhere other than the 25 (granting they don't return it all the way). So I think if they returned it to the 5 yard line, they would still have the offense start at the 25.

Yes. If the defense picks it off and takes it back all the way game is over.

Seen a couple of college games end like that

i like the college football overtime rule, with the lone exception that i think its dumb that you can run twice for no gain, and get sacked for a 6 yard loss on third and still kick a field goal!

i think they should start each drive at the 40, at LEAST, maybe even the 50

although, if they changed it to that, the bama/LSU game would go on forever

How about they change it to you must get a TD? I agree that since they are starting in FG range at least for some college kickers. Why not just make the run the team who scores a TD 1st wins?

I say start on the 35 instead of the 25.

btw, starting at the 25 didn't help Stanford much, huh?

I forget which game it was recently, but it was in overtime that something happened that I had not seen previously, ... that I'm not sure I agree with.

The defense got a turnover, an INT I think. Which of course prevented the offense from scoring on their posession. But after the play, the defense commited a personal foul of some sort. Not sure what it was, but it was a 15 yd penalty.

They just disregarded the penalty and gave the defense the ball at the 25 yd line.

As I watched, I felt sure they would move it back to the 40.

I did not see that game but as you are describing it I would agree. Why wouldn't the 15 yard be added? That makes no sense.

I will say I like the fact both teams get the ball in OT and I like the fact that teams have to go for the 2 point once they reach a 3rd OT

I believe this was in the Michigan state/Georgia game

What happened was after the INT, one of the players from the team that turned the ball over committed a penalty, however, it is automatically declined, because every OT possession HAS to start at the 25

Right, but like I said in my OP, I think I disagree with that rule.

Pretty sure they don't care what I think though. :D

It is no consolation but I agree. If a team committed a personal foul it would be tacked on to the kickoff so why not tack it on the next possession of the opposing team?

Yeah. It's way too much of a field goal contest. After all of that hard work by both team, it should not come down to that so easily.

Starting at the 50 sounds about right, if they stay with that format.
