have the new ones come out yet?

If not, IMO, ND and TCU should completely fall from the top 25. They lost to hugely unranked foes.

Georgia and Oregon should fall. Oregon should fall a handful of spots, LSU controlled the game. Georgia should drop at least 5 spots. Yes, Boise was highly ranked, but the game was in Georgia's backyard and Boise controlled the game for the most part.

Texas, South Florida, and Baylor should all move up in the rankings. I am not saying top 25 for the last two, but they definitely should rise several spots closer to the top 25. Texas should be in the bottom 5 of the top 25 for now.

Baylor deserves a top 25 rank a hell of a lot more then Texas right now

I was thinking that too.

I'd prefer they just didn't have polls this early anyway. As you can see, people are basing accomplishments on perfromances against teams that had not played a game yet this year. A team starts out rated low (Baylor) and beats to a team rated high (TCU)...but this early there no way to know if Baylor really should have been rated or if TCU should have not been rated. All preconceived notions with no facts going in.

The bigger problem is that these same people have too much pride to adjust their previously uninformed opinions as the season progresses. They don't want to admit that they either overrated or underrated a team at the beginning of the season.

I dont like preseason rankings, but they are there. Based on the preseason rankings, Texas was 26th in the AP...so yes they deserve to move into the top 25, since two teams got beat by unranked opponents. ND deserves to really drop, since they lost at home.

I have no issue with Baylor moving into the top 25. However, if they were not ranked very high in the preseason poll, it will be difficult for them to climb all that way and make it into the top 25.

Baylor beating TCU was more impressive than any of the other Big 12 victories, as well as any of the victories from the Big 10 or Big East. Honestly, the only other victories I found to be superior to Baylor's in the opening weekend would be LSU over Oregon and Boise St. over Georgia. Still, because of preseason rankings, it is hard to make a huge jump after 1 week, unless you beat the preseason #1 or something.

I was almost ready to give props to Minnesota and Utah St., but neither could quite get it done. Speaking of Utah St., because of that game, IMO, Auburn should drop in the polls.

Also, I wish the BCS would incorporate strength of schedule.

I thought that was already factored into the BCS. I know they took out margin of victory after what FSU did to Clemson in 2000.

I believe the old BCS formula had it, but then it was removed. From what I understand, strength of schedule is not a component....if so, do you really think all these top programs would be playing D2 schools?

Define "hugely unranked foes". I think "unranked" is a binary term. You are, or you aren't.

As for Baylor "should be ranked above Texas". I'm not quite sold on that idea. I'm a huge TCU fan and I even said after the season last year that TCU probably won't be half the team it was last year. They lost most of their top talent. The only thing that basically stayed in line with last year was the linebackers and they alone can't win games.

As for Texas, I think they will be a much improved team this year. Lets let Baylor prove they are better than Texas this year before we jump to conclusions like that. While I don't think Texas is a top 5 talent team this year, I'm pretty sure they will produce a better showing this year than they did last. I think last year was a fluke of sort.

The BCS should be shot and killed. Nothing about the BCS has ever been "good".

I want a playoff system.

This is how I would want to go. Have 128 D1 programs. 8 Conferences, 16 teams each. Each team plays 1 non conference game, 4 Conference non-divisional games, 7 Conference divisional games. Within each conference, the winners of each division play for the Conference Championship. The 8 Conference Champions go to the playoffs.

The seedings for the playoffs can be made based on regional location, some statistical formula, or even a seedings lottery.

Round 1: Alamo Bowl, Holiday Bowl, Orange Bowl, Cotton Bowl (Cowboys Stadium)
Round 2: Sugar Bowl, Rose Bowl
Championship: Fiesta Bowl

the Orange, Cotton, Sugar, Rose, and Fiesta rotate

2 weeks between the semi-finals and the Championship.....and this is when all the other Bowls are played.

hahahahaha.....your opinion is a gutbuster.

enjoy your high ranking for now, by the end of the season, A&M will be at best the 3rd team in the Big 12....with OU and Texas vying for the Conference Title.

There is absolutely no reason why ANYONE should be ranked right now, preseason polls are dumb, they should wait at least 3 weeks IMO

A man with two fingers can count the number of teams who finished the season below .500 and began the next season ranked in the modern era (since 1970), and both of those teams were returning starting QBs from injury. Texas is ranked in the coaches poll for one reason: Because their name is "Texas". A&M may very well finish third, but it will be behind OU and OSU. Texas won't be vying for anything save sixth place in the conference with Tech and low-tier bowl position.

Give me one legitimate reason why Texas should be ranked right now. I'll hang up an listen.

Maybe they shouldn't but then your own bias aginst Texas is shining through. Right now none of the polls mean much. If Texas wins games they will move up. As for how Texas will do on the season I think it will be much better than 6th in the Big 12.

What are you going to do now that you can't hate on Texas Slant? I think you need to probably start tuning up on LSU and Bama. I'm going to miss you thou.

Top four is straight forward, but plenty of shuffling could be done after that

I still don't get SC being so highly thought of...
