I think they were collecting a certain type of picture for the collection -- rugged, dirty, generally poor, etc. I was kinda surprised how modern some of the pictures looked.

just spent the best part of an hour looking through those then the russia early 1900s, american cities pre 1950 and WW2 pages linked at the bottom.

I LOVE IT! I could have looked at 500 more pictures. I love history. The train yards back in the 40's was real cool, since I'm a little bit of a train nerd. I love the blatant racism in the ads. There was a picture of a black butler holding a beer...you'd NEVER see that today.

lol, really! If those were the "good ol days" how come nobody ever smiles or looks happy in the slightest in these old pics? ha

These were amazing pics though with the color. It doesnt look real to me.
