andon Jacobs-RB- Giants Dec. 30 - 11:08 am et

Brandon Jacobs is out for Week 17 and will have arthroscopic surgery on his knee next week.

Ahmad Bradshaw will carry the load against the Vikings, with Danny Ware and Gartrell Johnson serving as change-of-pace options. Jacobs season ends fittingly with a thud. He looked slow and plodding while never topping 100 yards and averaging a miserable 3.7 yards per carry. Jacobs will almost certainly return as the starting running back in 2010, but his long-term value has taken a hit.

I like having Bradshaw back there over Jacobs in this game.

Did they say anything about when Brandon's retirement press conference is scheduled?:)

Didnt Jacobs say if he averages under 4 yards a carry he was gonna retire from football?

I think its funny that big mouth jacobs has supposedly an injury so he cant play. the big turkey!

you all remember what he said, if his yardage was down attempts 3. something that he would retire;

i wonder how big mouth jacobs is going to get out of that remark;

He was talking about Jacobs in the Madden 09 game. :lmao2:

here it is; can anyone find his rushing attempts for the year?

According to the New York Daily News, Giants running back Brandon Jacobs told ESPN Radio in New York on Friday that he would retire after this season if his numbers don't improve this season he will retire. Jacobs is averaging only 3.4 yards per carry after three games.

Our View:Jacobs is obviously not going to retire, but he just wanted to show how much he believes in his ability. As long as he stays healthy, we have no doubt that his numbers will increase, especially if Eli Manning contnues to produce.

He is playing like he is already retired.

The Cowboys need to smack that guy around next season.:giants:
:clubbed: :spanking:

Jacobs averaged under 15 carries a game and only had 2 carries of over 20 yards this season. But, is his decline due to diminishing skills or the simple fact the Giants were an average team this year? His long term value hasn't really taken a hit unless he repeats this years stats next year.

He'll use the injury as an excuse for not retiring. I can already hear it. :rolleyes:

DOesn't matter. Jacobs has been a non factor all year. I can't remember a game where I said the Giants won a game because of Jacobs.

"If I finish the season averaging (3.4 yards) a carry, I won't play next year. I'll be done," Jacobs told ESPN Radio in New York. "That's how much I believe in my ability."
Drats! He actually did improve from the 3.4 avg.

:banghead: Thanks to the Cowboys defense a few weeks ago, his average improved drastically.

Oh, I wished you hadnt mentioned that, but really where he got back on rushing stats was against the skins when the giants killed them on monday night.

i thought he really only had that catch against us, i dont know if his rushing stats were any better.

EDIT: He was 13 for 39, 1 TD, Long of 9
1 catch for 74

It doesn't matter the guy will have a million excuses why he's not actually going to live up to his word. This is why athletes and such shouldn't make such stupid comments and predictions cause it can, and often does, come back to bite you right square in the butt.
