#19 - You will not post fake, false or wild rumors or news.

If the validity of the rumor is known, doesn't it no longer make it a rumor? Shouldn't the rule be "You will not post rumors" or "You will not knowingly post false information"?

Posting fake information is different than posting rumors. When rumors are posted, we usually require they have a reputable source of some kind. Exceptions are made for users who have proven somehwat reliable in the past with previous rumors. Even in the case of exceptions, the users know that if they post rumors and they turn out not to be true, they may take some heat for it.

That said, we will not allow agenda-driven personal attacks against those users before the rumor is proven false simply because some people hate the attention other people are getting and they assume the rumor to be false. If a rumor was factual, it would be news and not a rumor after all.
